Cassia who?

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

I grew this from seed recieved in trade labeled as yellow batisia which it quite clearing not. Looks like some form of cassia. Anyone have some guess as to which one. I ask this forum since ya'll use a lot of cassias for your BF and cats.

Sorry the pix out of focus. Some days my camera just doesn't co-operate.

You know, that looks way too similar to my beileved-to-be-cassia which in reality turned out to be virginia jointvetch - Aeschynomene virginica ! This plant is also called curly indigo - maybe that's where the confusion was (?). Other names: budda pea, curly-indigo, hard sola, Indian joint-vetch, kat sola, northern joint-vetch, sensitive jointed vetch, sensitive vetch. This plant can be weedy or invasive.

Watch those seedheads as they open when dry and seed goes everywhere. If you don't want it all over the place - just cut them off. I grew this by accident last year. Maybe I also got it in a packet of seeds or smth... But it grew to be about 10 feet tall and provided some shade to my flowerbed and I definitely liked that. I cut off seedheads as far as I could but I got a yard full of seedlings in spring. Been pulling them left and right - I think I got them all ;). I allowed two or three to grow this season. I believe jointwetch is also a host plant for a few butterflies. I have not seen any caterpillars yet though.

It's looks quite similar to virginia jointvetch on your photo, but also it's quite blurry so I can correctly identify the leaves or blooms. Maybe if you get a chance to take and post some more pictures - it will be easier to identify it.

nope...leaves are much bigger. More like a cassia and flowers have 5 petals not pea-like. I'll try to get better pictures.

Yours has to be one of them - hard to say which one as they look very similar.

I think it's senna obtusifolia aka coffeeweed
