Help for Kitten sudden eye infection?

"Kitten," who is 8 to 9 weeks old, suddenly has swollen, red-rimmed eyes this morning. They're watering a lot, but not putting out additional discharge. It's clearly uncomfortable, because he keeps wiping his eyes with his paws. But he's still eating, playing, purring, etc.

I've got a call in, trying to find some vet advice on a Sunday, but I wondered if anyone had any suggestions in the meantime to make him more comfortable.

I think he should probably stay in his room in case this is something that he could spread to Blake, our older cat. Needless to say, we'll visit him a lot there -- and we'll also wash our hands before and after.
