Weekend Blooms - August 18 & 19

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

Well, I get to start the thread today, yippee!

First up for me is a close up of Big Easy. Looking at this flower makes me want some tropical sorbet :-)

I had several blooming today, but when I went out to take pictures, the humidity made my camera fog up. I took a couple of pictures and called it a day. LOL! See the haze on my camera lens. This is the same seedling I posted before, but this bloom has more color.

Wow, now that's some humidity if it can fog your camera! It sounds like you enjoyed some beautiful blooms, even in the humidity :-)

(Zone 11)

Wow, thats about the prettiest Purple Magic I think I've ever seen!
Great picture Brugie, my camera fogs up alot down here too. It happens when the lens is colder than the dew point outside. I just leave it outside until the camera warms up.

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Me too, on the camera.
Love Soft Spot and Purple magic today. Went to a concert 2 hours away, so I will post today and tomorrows pics at the same time. Pleasant dreams everyone.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Brugie, I love that seedling, the first picture you posted.

I have the camera issue also with our heat and 80% humidity here. When a friend, who is a professional photographer, visited one summer he kept his fancy, expensive camera wrapped up in a quilt so it would not get too cold in the AC. He does the same in winter to keep it warm in the car.

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

Only a few different ones for me on this hot and humid Sunday. First, I've got a pretty Rum Runner.

All very nice!!! It was well worth the time to take a break and look!!! Well, it is hot too and I am putting up another greenhouse so I needed the break!!! Karen can I borrow your green thumb? lol The hibbies in the greenhouse are blooming like crazy but mine are far and few between. Before the heat wave I would have 30 different cultivars a day bloom but now I am lucky if I get at least 5. Although I really can't complain about the heat much because it's keeping Hurricane Dean to the south. Hoping it stays there!!! All beautiful PICS!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Everyone! I've got a soft spot for Purple Magic.

Great pictures, Karen. I would love to see your yard.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Here are my 3 for today:
Simple Pleasures (this started blooming on Friday, and the flower still looks great today!)

Ring of Fire (this one looks redder than the previous blooms I've had)

And a first bloom from Space Oddity. Very pretty, but within an hour of opening, the petals were already flopping backwards

Here's Space Oddity again, with me trying to hold the petals how they're supposed to be

Brugie I can understand why you have a soft spot for her . She's beautiful!!!
I love the "Space Oddity" Ecrane

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Well, Space Oddity decided to perk up an look like a normal flower later in the day, so of course I had to take another picture!

Can't wait for my Space Oddity to open. Love the change in colors.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

I think some of the change in colors is from the lighting, to me looking at the actual plant, it looked the same color in the evening when I took the 2nd picture as it did in the morning. 2nd picture the flash went off so I think that changed how the colors looked in the picture. (1st picture is more true to the colors as I see them)

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

Your Space Oddity is super cool. This is another one that I keep waiting to come back in stock. They only had it one time when I looked, and then I had no $$ :-(

Robert, green thumb, lol. I don't know about that - I just enjoy my plants, but certainly don't think I'd have the talent to have a lovely nursery like you do...So glad Hurricane Dean will miss your place. I just hope none of our tropical friends have too much damage.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Simple Pleasures is such a refreshing bloom. It even makes me feel cooler. LOL!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh so many more to love. I must be gaudless today for I just love Cinnamon Girl. What a pretty one!! Though I must admit I really want your Space Oddity Liz. What a great and odd combination of colors. The name is perfect.

Karen your photos are just so great so clear and sharp. What camera do you have?

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

Thanks for the compliment, Kell! I would aspire to become a "published" photographer some day; you've had such a cool and well deserved honor.

I use a Sony Cybershot, 5.1 megapixels, with a 12x optical zoom. I take my flower close-ups with their special "flower close-up" setting, lol.
