Now that I have seen your picture, threegardeners, I know you aren't mixed up................if I had said that, I wouldn mean it (LOL)

Gail, those are awesome! Such a great way to say your thinking of someone and something they can continue to enjoy with a minimum of effort.

I have the makings for some more terrariums that I want to try but I need to get 5 minutes to myself to order up some of those big salad bowls! Maybe I can find the link again right now....

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Brenda, your best bet may be to call the number on the Sabert site.............it is a European company.............then they tell you where the closest distributor is in your state............or go back and find the thread where Begoniacrazii lists the name of a company where you can order.........it was a hardware company..............a case is only 50 so that means 25 terrariums.............or Begoniacrazii knows a restaurant in her area where she picks up as few as she needs...............the small ones are the 80 oz.........and the large ones are really big at 160 oz..........salad bowls............

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

I found the link for Ace Mart that begoniacrazii had listed and I ordered 10 of the 160 oz ones. Only $1.85 per bowl so I should get five big terrariums for around $5.00 a piece!

Can't wait to get started, hope they ship fast!!

bmedel.............please keep the name for me!!!!!!!!! When i run out, I can order more .........this is much easier to do it this way................I think you save some money when you buy them from the restaurant suppliers but, with the cost of gas, I don't think we really do save money......................

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Gail... lovely terrariums, as always. What you do for those in your church community is commendable... you are blessed, and will be blessed for your kindness!

LOL threegardeners! That sounds like something I would do... though I've never lost a Saturday!

Brenda... I tried to make an order about a month ago from them, but could never get them to give me the shipping cost up front. I wasn't comfortable giving the CC info without knowing the total first. And I really wanted some of these myself.

1.85 is what begoniacrazii quoted as to what she pays by picking them up at the restaurant or supply house..............

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

And that's what they quote on the website, for each salad bowl. I was going to order four or six... can't remember now. But they would not give me the shipping amount. It said expect an email for shipping quote... I waited... and waited. Then it said, we need your CC # to finish processing order... I said I need total... never could get the total amount of order without giving my CC # blind. I passed...

Maybe I was being too cautious... but it just didn't seem right.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

They are very light weight but I would imagine the shipping would be high for only 4-6 of them..................(the boxes they came in as a whole unit are pretty big).................maybe you could order a whole pack of 50................and divide them with your friends.............but not if you have to repack and send...........

Call the number for Sabert site and ask them where the nearest distributor is in your area.........the place that the restaurant owners go for supplies........

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

I know what you mean VA Rose, it bugged me that they would not just say what the shipping would be. We have a small internet business and it is not that big of a deal to put shipping costs in, either by weight or by amount ordered!! They are annoying with wanting you to pay for your order and then wanting you to pay later for shipping without telling you how much it would total!!

OK, all that being said, I still wanted them :))) and so I went ahead and paid the 18.50 via paypal for the 10 bowls that I ordered and then this morning I had a paypal invoice from them saying they needed $9.98 for UPS shipping. I didn't think that was too bad, even if not great, for light weight products. So I paid that and my bowls are on the way.... So my 5 terrariums ended up costing $5.70 a piece.

Since I live in a small town with the big city of Boise a 102 mile, windy road, two hour drive, away from any type of restaurant supply place it was still way cheaper than gas!!!

You will love them....................I trim the top one around with the scissors to make it stay flat and fit into the bottom one...................then I take a little porcelain knob or something for a top to grasp when you want the lid off..................

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the follow-up to your order, Brenda. I agree... that's not too bad. In a way, I'm glad someone else took the leap, so to speak, to see how the order comes off. So I can figure, roughly, about half the cost of the order for shipping. At least that gives me an idea of what they will charge, instead of "We'll get back to you..." Thanks Brenda!

Gail and (I think) begoniacrazii, have done such a great job with them, making beautiful terrariums out of them... I definitely would like to have a few to make for myself, for all my episcias.

Karen

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Yes, Gail and her mentor are an inspiration to us aren't they? :)))

I'm going to make at least one of my terrariums into a little episcia stolon nursery. I've poked a lot of tiny little stolons around in my various terrariums and they do great so I'm going to give them all a dedicated home where they can all play together. :))

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Good idea! I have a group nursery right now, that has a bit of everything in it... and unfortunately... ssoooo many things that need to be potted up! Guess what I'm doing on my vacation next week???

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

A quick update on the salad bowl for terrariums order that I placed with Ace mart. They came this morning!! Yippee!

So that means I ordered on the 18th of August and then received them out of Plano TX here in Idaho on the 27th of August. If I'd get to work here soon maybe I can play some this afternoon..........

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

They are beautiful .... I have to learn how to put in bowls..
Susan

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Susan...........I have these plastic bowls................I am going to send the ones this size to you..........the big ones are great.........but I have to get such a big box like I did to Dispatcher that it is too hard.............but i will include some of this size ones..........they are so much fun to have around during the winter months especially.............
I can send you plants that grow in terrariums, too..................glad you made this post.......
