Do you Texans know of really outstanding nurseries who carry rare plants...........like variegated philodendrons, etc.................i am at a loss this time of the year...............Dallas is too far..............but i would gladly go to the valley, San Antonio, Austin or Houston area..................
Thanks so much...............any direction is appreciated..........
Looking for very unusual houseplants
Hopefully Smockette will poke her head in here...I'm told she works at a nursery (near/in Houston) with some unusual plants.
she did email me.................I thought it used to be a tree farm.................going to look......thanks
PR! PR! PR!
I work for TreeSearch Farms. Ck out our website!
Gail alread knows of the Farm, my Boss, & now the website!
I did dmail her since I knew she knew about the Farm. lol
:~)
gessiegail, I understand your pain....lol. I miss some of the nurseries back home that I used to frequent when I needed a plant fix. Now I am mainly stuck with the chain stores. I do visit Martha's Bloomers occasionally since it is close, but they don't always have much in the way of houseplants. I have found some good cacti and succulents at the Natural Gardener in Austin, and there is also another cactus place there although I forget the name offhand, it wasn't as good though. Also cactus king off of I-45 in Houston has a decent selection. As for other plants, I end up ordering most of the time and am happy when I get lucky to find something local. There is another place outside of Houston, forget the name......I wanted to visit it but haven't yet, it was supposed to have some interesting tropicals. Let me go see if I can find the name and I will let you know...

Thanks, Kim.....................could you be trying to think of Caldwell's???
I used to go to Weatherford Farms when I had a liscence, but they don't really carry anything too unusual.............
Yep...that was it! Been wanting to check it out all summer, but time flies when grad school calls and money is low....lol.
Kim
There would be more money in my household if it weren't for this obsession of plants !!!!!!!!!!!!! (LOL)
Check out Zone 9 Tropicals. Wayne's place is in the Heights in Houston and anyone who was at the last RU at Randys house can tell you about it. pant...pant

I understand that zone9tropicals has gotten so expensive because of the cost of shipping, etc................
you wouldn't be disappointed if you ever came to south Texas and the valley..........lots and lots of tropicals............
I love anything variegated.............anything with colored foliage.............
thanks for your help so far..................maybe others will chime in also...........
