Let's bring out old pics of gesneriads just for fun!!!
Very pretty reds, Gail. I especially like the sinn.
I gotta go to bed....
G'night... Karen
Oh my goodness gessiegail
'Diane Marie is so pretty ,be glad when mine blooms
but Streptocarpus 'Hera' is so beautifull. got to have one of them.you grow such beautifull plants
Eunice
All are so beautiful .... I really love Strep 'Hera' .... gorgeous blooms! I have Chirita 'Diane Marie' but she looks a bit sad since I was gone 8 days .... it amazes me how some did so well with my absense and some died and some look so bedraggled. My C. 'Stardust' was just beginning to open a couple of blooms when I left ... came home and a lot of blooms but she was kinda droopy. Just tried to take a picture but my camera won't work! Aaaaargh! Will have to get hubby to check it when he gets home later today!
How pretty, Starfly...............i will put you in my folders for a Hera..................
oh thank you so very much,if theres anything i have your more than welcome to it,i don't have but a very few violets and the ones i have not sure if they will make it. i have some streps and a few Chirita, and one peniadenia orientandina
my collection has went way down
Eunice
we will build it back up..............do you have gro lights if I send you leaves??????????? My peniadenia orientandina is still a small one with only cuttings taken recently...............
yes i have 4 stands with lights, 2 of them i have put in back room
since theres nothing on them. my peniadenia orientandina
had 2 little blooms in the back of them,do you have yours under light and how do you mix your soil,i have been useing 1 part african violet potting soil and 3 part perlite. and vf 11
but my soil looks black, got any idears
heres a couple of pictures
I had one of those Pentadenia orientadinia's that I got from Rob's and I can't find it!! Maybe my husband is right and that I have too many plants! I have searched but must go look some more .... this is driving me crazy ... I know it's here somewhere! It was real small, so maybe it didn't survive me being gone 8 days like some other things! :(
I have mine in the mix I make for everything.................8 quarts av soil-less mix, 8 quarts perlite and 4 quartz vermiculite................when i take new cuttings of anything I keep them under a dome until rooted....................
I also keep Marathon granules I ordered from Cedar Creek violets or Velvet Leaf.........can't remember..........anytime i think that I might get root rot I drop about 1/4 tsp of these granules on top of the soil surface...........works wonders
Do you think you have that cutting rooted deep enough on the cutting? I would just change the soil today...............even if yu don't change the mix.............(I sound like I know what I am talking about...........i do (for me) but shouldn't be giving instructions to someone else)
Wow! That has a nice root system! Looks like it might need a larger pot!
Oh yeah, I found my little guy .... he was just hiding amongst other plants! Whew! Thought maybe it was a goner from neglect or when I was away visiting my sister!
The roots look good...............may need more soil-less mix at this point...............
Pretty Jan! And that reminds me... those little sinn 'Rio's you sent me have been blooming their wee little heads off! I have enjoyed them so much!
Karen
jannich, you know I 'hate' you for being able to grow MacKenzie that pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I go in November to the state convention I am really going to look for the Scarlet Red and every color I can find....................that is the size of sinningia that i love..........
Oh, I Love that Glox sylvatica!
I had ordered seeds of Sylvatica 'Red Satin' and 'Buchella' but will have to ask Amy when she gets back why I didn't get any seeds............those two were at the top of my want list..........
