I, unknowingly, but clearly, rooted this h. polystachya IML 1043 upside down. But nature, thankfully, corrected me - polystachya has righted itself and is, FINALLY, starting to really grow!

Nature fixes silly human error
Ha, Karen, I don't think I would know which way is up, by looking at those original leaves either!!
I got some nice cuttings of vitellina, and cut them into a couple of pieces each. One was rotting to the point of almost being un-rootable, so I flipped it upside down, and rooted the healthy top stem. It hasn't put out any growth yet, but it is still nice and firm, so I do have hope. Thanks for sharing your picture.

Wouldn't it be nice if we humans could be as forgiving as our pets....and our plants?
(wistfully) Carol
In a similar vein, I rooted a cutting of H. ischnopus recently by sticking BOTH ends of the cutting into the medium. Both ends made a shoot!
Good point, Karen. I guess that is why I relate to Hoyas as there are many times that I cannot determine which side is up and I have had some really great times when I forgot to follow the rules!
Amen, Mel.
These plants really are weeds, aren't they?!
A weed's just a plant in the wrong place. :)
Yes and since they are at yall's house instead of mine they are all weeds. LOL!!!
I'll be glad to post my address if yall want to unload those weeds.
Jeri
Ouch! Well said, Jeri!
That is really cool.
Tami
That is one of the advantages of growing them horizontally in media....IT gets to choose!!!
