news to me

Kernville, CA

I just thought I would share this: I read that Hierloom vegetables were best suited for organic gardens and Hybrids grow best in a chemical environment. Maybe that explains some of the reason I have not had such good harvests. Starting Jan. 08, I am going all Heirloom.

I'm not quite sure I'd agree with that, tigpie.

I'd like to read the article though if you can point me in that direction.

Thanks!

Personally I think you could raise either one in either environment, but I bet they'd both taste better raised organically. I wouldn't be surprised also if the heirlooms are better tasting overall, since the plants have been bred to be more suitable for large-scale agriculture have probably lost some of their flavor along the way too.

Sorry, but that's ridiculous. If anything, given that many modern hybrids are bred for pest and disease resistence, the opposite might be marginally less ridiculous.
