Do I need a pollinator for this plant to set berries? If yes, which one?
Thanks a bunch,
Christie
Ribes aureum var. gracillimum
I'm just guessing (though I do grow other ribes, I don't have this one) and say that you are either going to need another pollenator or that yields will be better with another pollenator.
I'd try Ribes Odoratum (clove currant)
btw...where did you get it?

I thought you could only use the aureum but a different one for cross pollination. Are you sure I could use a odoratum? That would be neat, I would love to have a red currant!
I bought mine in a local nursery. Not the best looking plant; a lot of broken branches and not to leafy, but they are hard to find right now, unless you buy from nurseries over the internet. Las Pilitas has them, and Forest Farm, and maybe Whitman Farms.
My nursery said they would get them in bare root in December or January.

I just called Las Palitas, and the lady on the phone told me I don't need another plant for cross pollination. She said hers has a ton of berries and there is only that one plant.
