I know this is not much to go on....

but mommy laid eggs (2 that I saw) on my butterfly bushes. Now, they are these fuzzy, white, with a hint of yellow, cat that are now eating the butterfly bushes. They definitely do not fit the description of the Western Checkerspot, or occasional Buckeye that uses the butterfly bush as a host plant. Maybe a Virginian Tiger Moth??
Any clues?? And, thanks much!!

Kind of looks like a Virginia Tiger moth cat.....does it look like some of these?

They feed from many different plants.

That's what I was kinda thinking after googling "fuzzy white caterpillars." :) I just hope those two don't completely demolish my butterfly bushes. I'll do some more googling and see what else they like to eat, and move them there....

what is their territory? I have had a bunch all (like 40 or 50 seen in one day) over my yards, I was afraid they were something else and not a butterfly or moth

Me, too. I thought they were webworms because they were on my butterfly bush, may night salvia, garanitica, and pineapple sage. Thinking they were webworms, I squished them. Now I feel horrible.

Blues,
here's a link to butterfliesandmoths.org that shows the range for the Virginia Tiger Moth. They are pretty spread out http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species?l=3750
