I planted a few luffa/loofah/loufah seeds and two sprouted and one survived. It has taken over my cattle panel arch beautifully and every morning shows tons of beautiful yellow flowers. However, there is no sign whatsoever of any fruit. Are these vines either male or female, rather than producing male AND female the way gourds do? I've looked this little bit of trivia up everywhere I can think of and can find no info.
Anyone? Thanks!
luffa question
They have both males and females on the same plant. Males come first. females later and way out on the vines. You probably have not given it enough time. It is a long season (120-180 days) plant that likes hot humid weather.
I was hoping that was the case. Thanks, Farmerdill! I'll just give it time.
