I was shocked today when my DH emailed me these photos from work of a Luna Moth in NW Tarrant County!!! It was near Eagle Mountain Lake for those who know the area. It flew past a window and landed on a piece of equipment, he grabbed his camera and went downstairs in the heat and got the shots, not realizing how rare they are!!! I wish I had gotten to see it in person, but this is just as good knowing they do come this way occassionally.
Stepping Out of it's Range OMG!!!
This link will show you how rare they are and especially in my area of north central Texas!!
Whooowooo!!!

I just went and checked the Texas map on that site and Tarrant isn't marked, guess I need to report his sighting!!!!

Oh Sheila...you are so lucky!!!
Not me, (((pouting))), it was my DH that got to see it and take the pics. It was while he was at work and I was too. He emailed me the picture and I about choked!!
That just ain't right!
That is so very exciting! They are so gorgeous, and for your DH to be able to see one up close is awesome. But, what's most important, is the fact that he had the insight to take pictures!!!
Yes, very exciting, even though I am jealous I didn't have the pleasure. He has a lot of construction going on at work and takes pictures all day of the progress, so he usually always has a camera handy. He also takes a lot of my flower garden and pond pictures, and is very good at it. Of course, he hates to work in the yard!! Because I do most of that when I am able, I don't have time to take pictures! LOL!
oh congrats to your DH Shelia. Sorry you didn't get to see it yourself. Please do report your sighting
What a beautiful sight. Your lucky DH. So glad he got that pic for you and thanks for sharing.
Leslie
Thanks for the comments. I did try to report last night but their site was down. Will try again tonight.
Beautiful Sheila!
It's great that your DH takes pics for you. When Kev and the boys go to Big Thicket, I always ask for pics, and he never has his camera when he sees the butterflies. Hes usually racing around with the boys on thier dirt bikes, LOL!
Way to go "H"!
:-D
Thanks Deb! Look for it to be flying up your way, it must be headed to the East, since it hasn't been seen any further north than here.
Will keep my eyes peeled Sheila!
:-D
