Maggie-
Is this the only host that you have for the GST? I have this as well as Key lime and Hercules club.....I had a few eggs on my wild lime earlier this summer but the babies never got through the 1st or 2nd instar. Just this am I found a baby on the Hercules....so hopefully this will work for me. Oh well, just curious!

if I saw that I might have screamed and ran - now I'll know not too!
Adrienne,
Actually no, I have several. But they like this one. So much that I am working with seeds to grow more. I do have 2 WLs I bought from Edith @ Buyabutterfly.com. I have them in big pots and bring the pots to a cage for the cats.

I saw one of those Giant Swallowtails in my backyard yesterday. He was all over my bottle brush! He was gorgeous! Wish I'd had my camera :(
I saw my first a couple weeks ago, and again today in the yard, and they really are gorgeous
what a cute pic Maggie
Hi Maggie~
I went overboard with Rutacacea/Citrus this year and now the GSTs come all day long. My Flying Dragon looks just like the WL, So far only one cat on that plant, and I tried putting it in a few of the cages and the cats crawl off and go for the Hercules Club, and sometimes the Lemon, lol.
Got a Mandarin Orange last week and put it on the end table on the deck. Today a GST came and hovered, curled her tail on a few leaves, then just stopped still and hugged it for about 5 minutes. I wonder how that one will play out now.

Yes, tell the DH that's a great shot! I know my neighbors thought I was crazy (again) when I found a big cat and yelled to my dh "look, a bird poop cat!!"
LOL that's halarious Paige!!
I didn't find any eggs on the Mandarin Orange. The GST looked kinda old... I wonder if she ran out of eggs, (menopause maybe?) The way they lay eggs I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Maybe she was sitting there trying to muster some up, and couldn't. The ones that overwintered are now passing away, we have found a few on the ground.
See here, She is trying> Ovipositor touching and everything...
