One year old Frosty Pink
Congratulations! Great job.
How tall? What size pot? Cut off a lot of side shoots?
(sorry for being nosey....I working on growing a tall standard next year myself)
Nice job. Erick is quite the enabler and a nice guy.
David_Paul,
It is about 6 feet tall, counting the height of the pot. The pot is a plastic one, about 20 inches at the rim, and about 20 inches high, but tapering a bit toward the bottom. It was in a one gallon pot until spring, though, and had a few blooms last year. I do trim or pinch off all side shoots under the Y, but before it forms the Y, of course you have to leave a group of leaves at the top or else it would have none. Frosty Pink appears to be a bit more vigorous in this climate than Versicolor or Ecuador Pink, which grew slower and even though older, don't have as many blooms. Keep us informed on how yours does.

David_Paul,
It is a beauty; I love the points on the petals. What Brug is it?
What are your plans for it for the winter? Do you leave it in the bag, and if so, do you have trouble transporting the bag inside? I'm no expert, but in min-August, I would not repot, given it will be going indoors in the fall. I think repotting encourages new growth, which may not be the best at this time of year.

Pretty pic Susan! Such a healthy plant! Good job!
(GASP)! SUSAN!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!! So pretty!! That's what I hope mine does soon!!!!!
smKennedy...the cultivar is ''Jerad's Joy'. Three flowers are almost open tonight and there is a faint fragrance. Maybe tommorow will be "the night". Oddly enough, the pure white is now a greenish pink cream. Good questions on what to do this winter. I don't know. Never owned a brug before the second week in June. Have plenty of room in the basement so I would prefer not to cut it back anymore than is required (if cutting back at all is). Temp down there is 55-57 degrees year round. Don't know if that is too warm. There is a room I could cool down a bit by insulating it but if I don't have to...all the better...lol.
Very nice looking standard you have there, with both flowers and leaves looking so good.

You've done a great job Susan. Congratulations!

Very pretty.
Goregous!
That is a great frosty pink tree you have there. Must smell incredible. I am sooo addicted to the scent.
David_paul,
So that is what Jerad's Joy looks like. So pretty. Wow, I never thought about growing brugs in grow bags. I did tomatoes that way once and that worked out well.
I got the other Seedsprout brug named after the other grandson, Naughty Nick (because my son's name is Nick too lol). I just got it and don't have blooms yet. It was 28 inches tall when it arrived -pretty nice size!
