I,as well as most of you have been wishing for rain.Well very early Saturday morning (1:00) AM we got a whole bunch but we also got wind that wrecked havoc, trees down, large branches,Martin house leaning to the side, large pots toppled and lots of other nasty stuff. The storm came from the west and was called a straight line storm. In the newspaper today they wrote that the damage that was caused in some areas was from winds up to 100 miles per hour and in other places up to 70.What a mess!
Be careful of what you wish for!
OMG, that sounds terrible Nancy. Knowing that you have *just a few* (wink, wink) pots around you must really have a mess to clean up. I hope your big Oaks are OK.
That must have been quite scary! Glad that you are ok, and hope the cleanup is progressing.

We got similar storm through here about 12:30pm last night. It was something to behold. The lightening was going off like a strobe light and the thunder sounded like bombs. I think we must have just caught the edge of it; it was windy here, but it sounds like you got it much worse.
Glad you're o.k.
Jenny
Glad to hear someone in SC has gotten some rain. I just wish you had missed bad winds. Everything hear is dead or dying. Watering doesn't seem to help much with 105 and 106 temps.
Smokey, I really feel for you, we had that drought earlier in the year and it was miserable. At least we didn;t have the high temps. Today was lovely, just in the high 80's here and a beautiful breeze. It actually felt comfortable.
Yipes that is scary. Glad you are OK.
We had a bad storm about 40 miles from us in Goldsboro and it took off some roofs and stuff Friday night.
Lavina.
Everything is back to "normal" today. No rain for the next week or so and temps in low 90's.Yesterday was just in the high 80's but it felt much better than last week.
I've got to go buy pots to replant those that got whacked
Live oaks seem to hold up in storms much better than other trees. We alway lose dead branches and that is messy but it cleans out the trees.
I hope that this is the only storm that we see this season..
Amen to that; glad to hear things are calming down.
