This morning, a female Crescent Honeyeater (Phylidonyris pyrrhoptera) has been busy feeding at the flowers outside our kitchen window. She was mostly feeding in her favourite the Flame Grevillea (Grevillea dimorpha) as in this picture

however the Oregon Grape (Mahonia aquifolium) is just coming into flower and she showed that she doesn't only favour Australian flowers, by moving over and feeding from the Mahonia.
The male is similar but larger and is balck and yellow where the female is brown and olive. He prfers larger flowers and rarely visits outside the window.
Mahonia is a very rich nectar producer - over here, they get visited quite a lot by various birds that are not even specialised nectar consumers, but they use it because the resource is so rich.

Nice photos kennedy! I've seen pics of the males; their very handsome!
Thanks for posting; we're really enjoying seeing the birds from down under. :-)
