One day long ago I was invited to a party at Stanford U. One of the drama students was house sitting for one of the professors who was out of the country.
The host took full advantage of the resources he had come into: Everyone was to bring a dish representing their cuisine back home. The dish I remember most was a cornbread-oyster dressing brought by one of the students who was from Louisiana. The host rolled the absent professor's baby grand piano out by the pool and every one of the drama students had to perform.
One of the most memorable evenings of my life. Poetry, recitations, and song all night long. Does anyone have a Southern recipe for Louisiana cornbread & oyster dressing?
