I bought this plant a month ago and it is already blooming!!
Amorphophallus Bloom!!
What is it called? Very cool, and big! My morphs bloom in early spring here... I added a few new ones to my collection this year, didn't get to see the blooms. I just love their "uniqueness".
it is a dactylifer. it's one of my favorites!
I was admiring your other "roids" in the background, too. Nice!
"roids" Huh, sounds painful, is there a cream for that; or is it incurable, like other plant addiction afflictions, LOL. Beautiful flower, placeniarita. All jokes aside, all of my "annual" aroids are now up and growing, EXCEPT for some of the coloured calla hybrids. Those plants are wacky - some are waking up, some are going dormant, and yet they are all more or less the same species. Any comments out there from more expert calla growers. It is about 3 weeks to official spring here, but many bulbs are already up and flowering - Velthelmia, Scilla peruviana, Hyacinths, & Jonquils to name a few. Happy growing all, KK.
:) Wow, springtime for you. I just started planning my autumn "evacuation" strategy.. I grow tropicals and a few tender perennials and keep them in my basement during our winter (zone 5b).. Are you asking about calla lilies? Can't grow them here. Well others do, I can't seem to find a happy environment for them... too much water, not enough sun... I've managed to murder yet another one this summer.. Happy Spring to you KK!
HI AuntB,These are the Zantedeschia elliottiana based hybrids, they come in lots of colours. I don't want to give you plant envy, but here is a link to the catalogue page for the place where I purchased most of mine. http://www.tesselaar.net.au/shop/calla%2Dlilies/ Mostly, they are smaller that the big white ones, but they certainly make up for it in colour! It just makes me nuts that they come up and flower at completely different times. Right now, some of mine are dying back, some are completely dormant, while others are just breaking the surface, and still others have a full set of leaves!

Pretty, I like Pink Persuasion and Hot Chocolate! But, they would croak on me, too. They are not hardy where I live.
