Thanks for the pictures. I was in Australia 20 years ago and loved it. I have family there. I haven't been back because I hated the long flight. They're not as long now I hear. I went to Healesville with my uncle. He lived outside Geelong on a small sheep farm. My cousins live up in King City and others in a suburb of Melbourne and more in Queensland. It's a beautiful country. Did you see the little penguins at night all come up?

There's no way around it - the flights are long. But there is a flight that goes from Vancouver to Honolulu to Sydney. Because you have to deplane in Honolulu to clear US customs, it's more like two flights, the longest one being about 9 1/2 hours. We went through LA which was a direct flight (though we made an unscheduled refueling stop in Honolulu. But since we couldn't get off the plane, it hardly counted.) and we returned through Vancouver. Of course, we had another 4 1/2 hour flight once we got to Vancouver.

We heard about the penguins, but unfortunately, that's one thing we missed.

The penguins at Phillip Island are amazing. I will go back one of these days. My DH hasn't been there and would like to go. I went to New Zealand and Indonesia on the same trip. I wouldn't bother going back to Indonesia again.
