I wish I had more of the real fancy ones but...............

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I am lucky to have the ones I do. I have been out so much lately I hardly have gotten to enjoy my blooms. Yesterday I started to take a few pictures.

This may be my favorite one this year. It always has huge blooms open on her and many times 4 or 5 at one time. She opens so pretty too and lasts several days but the colors do dull.

I really like Bluebird, especially the back. LOL

The front is not bad either. I have had others that are very similar bu this one has a louder PINK center.

I love the Newport Nectarine colors. This was an old bloom.

The best thing about Vermillion Queen is the center. I love the contrast.

Hibiscus break, LOL. A new seedling that has grown up thru an oleander and gave me a surprise. It had just opened and PINKing up.

A terrible bloom on a sad looking plant. But I love the colors. I just moved it to the backyard so I hope I will start taking care of it now.

Forever Young. I wish, LOL.

Pride of Acadiana is really putting on a continuous show. In the past real full doubles on other cultivars have put out only a few blooms for me so I am so chuffed.

Here is an amaryllis I so abused. I bought them last fall from Van Engelen. I put in a big order every year. Well this last year I never planted them for some lazy reason. Many bloomed in the boxes, all dwarfed and deformed. The bulbs shrank.

About a month ago I opened the boxes and tried to save the viable ones. I planted them in my yard and all immediately start to grow. And I have buds!!! I am so amazed at them. I have to look up what this one's name is. It is the best red I have ever seen. I will be making my yearly order soon and will get a bunch to pot up for Christmas. Takes a licking but keeps on ticking.

When my husband saw it he ran in to get me, he was so excited which is so unusual for hate plants Tom. LOL It has 5 blooms on it too.

This one has small blooms but it sure wakes me up.

I bought this because a 5 gallon pot was only $13 and I figured worth that for its PINK entertainment value.. People have huge bushes of this one around here. They grow to about 12 feet. I do not know why these grow so much easier than the fancy ones do. Much hardier. The bloom looks down.

I have a huge bush of this one, Haight Ashbury. I hope it overwinters. No flowers for me but it has a seedpod on it that I need to pick.

It is the most unphotogenic plant. I have taken lots of pics of it and it just always looks terrible in the photos.

My last picture is what dreams are made of. LOL. My husband took me for oysters yesterday in San Francisco. It was an absolutely perfect weather day and we sat outside looking at the San Francisco Bay as we slurped the best Hog Island Sweetwater oysters down. They always taste better when eaten on the water.

I made a friend.

Your hibiscus are gorgeous.

Kell, your pictures are great! I especially like your "dreams", what a gorgeous view... Your Haight Ashbury pic is super cool too :-)

I'm jealous of your Pride of Acadiana - the blooms are so pretty. Mine has been my worst bloomer of the year with only a couple so far. It does have about 4 buds now though, so hopefully it will pick up steam.

Hi Kell, I'm normally a lurker on this forum but had to tell you that your hibiscus are just gorgeous, so much that they're making me drool! LOL I especially love the Sunset Sienna!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Kell, I'd say all of yours are pretty fancy; High Voltage was my favorite today. Don't you just love Haight Ashbury. Mine is about 4' tall now and it puts on quite a show but it is always thirsty. Several times a day is not an exageration it seems whenever I walk out the door I have to water HA. Do you have yours in the ground?

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Stolen Kiss is my favorite. PS...it is supposed to fade the next day, lol.

My next fav....."dream". Brings back lots of memories of my many visits to frisco, way way back when.

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Kell - I know what you mean about the Forever Young bush being sad-looking. UGH!! I'm taking mine back to HD. The flowers are STUNNING, but the plant is insanely ugly in formation. Wait - what formation? There isn't any!! Lol ...

Nice Brug!!! I wish mine would flower ...

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

BTW, Kell - GREAT flowers!!!!!!!!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Hi Jeanne. Thanks for looking. Do you grow any of these in your great conservatory? They would bloom for you all winter. PS I am not emailing you guys till my email problem gets cleared. I just now notified AOL. I hate AOL.

Thanks Karen. San Francisco is just a great place look at all the sights. I am so blessed to live here. We go in to SF to eat at least once if not twice a week. I am so spoiled. I have been pleasantly surprised with Pride of Acadiana. I have gotten lots of blooms and most are fully double, just huge and so 3 dimensional.

Hi sweet Brin. Good to see you here too.

Alice, after some looking online, my High Voltage must be wrongly tagged. I will look for the right name today. My Haight Ashbury is in a 5 gallon pot. I am afraid to put in the ground. I need to see what temps it can take. And YES, it is always thristy! LOL

Cat, I wish Stolen Kiss didn't fade. It really comes out PINK and then slowly fades. Mine are lasting 4 days now, it has been so cool here. How long do yours last?

Amanda, you are so right. Forever Young is a floppy plant. It has no form. And I didn't help by abusing it. I got mine at an expensive nursery too, to make it hurt more. I so wish our Home Depot would get some of these in. I have never seen them here. Only in NJ at my Mom's Home Depot a few years ago did I see them at a HD. They had tons and great ones too.

Here is another photo of what dreams are made of. We went to Napa Valley for the weekend. Had the best time. We enjoyed a taste of the bubbly at Mumm Napa. We are members there and oh what fun. Here is a glass of DVX, 1999 bubbly. So good we had to buy a few bottles to take home. Fun videos on here of the grape harvest. http://mummnapa.com/home.cfm?month=1&day=24&year=1976&_send_date_.x=26&_send_date_.y=3

Neat picture Kell! It looks so cool and refreshing there.

Great pic, Kell - it's making me very thirsty!!! What a wonderful weekend you had, I'm so glad for you!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Alice, I am so spoiled. I just bought tickets for a tomato fesitval in September in Carmel.

I can't wait!! That is what is so cool about where we live. Just an hour or 2 and we are in a whole different place. A much better one I might add. LOL

Here is a long shot of the Mumm Napa vineyards. So beautiful.

Thanks Karen. We had fun. My husband and I enjoy the same things so we always have such a good time together. Sadly for our waistlines our fun usually revolves around us eating and eating well. I always research restaurants and we try to hit the best ones. Saturday we met friends and had a most enjoyable dinner (Redd in Yountville) but Sunday we went to one that was touted as fantastic (Ad Hoc), owned by the legendary Chef Thomas Keller of French Laundry and it sucked.

Retirement is great. LOL

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

I read about that tomato festival and it sounds like delicious fun. I would have to wear red because I would have so much tomato juice running down the front of me.

We spent a weekend in Carmel a while back, the place just oozes charm.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Carmel is a fun place. I love driving on the coastline and just looking. It is so pretty.

I just found a great fun page looking for the correct ID on what turns out to be really Bluebird.

MY MY!! And it says these are all available at Armstrong. I best make friends there to get the ones I want.

I can't get the direct links to work so go to this google serach link and go to first entry to thumnails at bottom.
