Brown Boronia (Boronia megastigma)
Such pretty flowers!
Boots, you always surprise me with flowers I have not even seen in books. Is this a New Zealand native?
Hi Ursula
it's Australian, kennedyh has put heeps in plantfiles.and I have not seen most of them..
This one has a lovely scent, but not all can smell it.
Hi Valarie!
When I found your picture, I went to the PFs and checked Ken's pictures as well.
Not only pretty but also scented!
Hugs,
Ursula
and I love your native flora!! hoping the Alstromeria will flower this year.
hugs boot
I will keep my fingers crossed!
Curious if the fragrance of the flowers are mild or strong - could you tell me, please? You said not all can smell them which sounds strange since this species of Boronia is used in perfume making. There are so many interesting & beautiful Australian plants I'd love to grow but our climate isn't warm enough. My hebes need protecting through winters so I wouldn't chance anything that's less hardy. :-(
i cannot smell them , but other can smell them before they see them, and rave about it.
they have about the same hardness rateing of -5c the Boronia likes half sun , low ph , moist but still well drained.
most hebe like full sun average ph and perfect drainage.
hope this will help Boots
This one is so cool!
