interest in a fall College Station RU?

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I thought I would throw this out there since it was discussed a little already. I know there are other swaps going on this fall so perhaps this RU is better left as a spring thing, but on the other hand there were people who had expressed an interest in having a fall RU. I get rather busy in the fall, but since it is right outside my door I would definitely go if we decide to have one. But I thought it would be best to open a floor for discussion, so to speak. What does everyone think? Fall RU or no?

So I am guessing this means no then?

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Lost my DSL @ work today & didn't see this til now.
Yes, I would like to have one! As long as it is about the time of last yr. Not in between Dallas & S Texas! Can't do 3 back to back!
Guess I'm getting old! lol

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

We're interested! And I would like to bring my sister too.
Patricia

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

We're interested, too!

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

very big possible...

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

They are kicking around dates over on the thread for the spring RU. Nov. 10 sounds good to me too!

November 10th would work for me, too.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

As I recall, last year's fall RU was Nov. 4. I didn't lose any plants, but I think I kept some of them in pots until spring. Others went in the ground and did fine. This would be one week closer to the cold weather.
I'd vote for Nov. 10 - will be nice and cool. (What is that?? Just a distant fond memory.)

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

November 10 works for my parents and I as well. Mom will be working Nov 4 so that wouldn't work for her and I know my parents would really like to come to another RU, they had so much fun at the last one.

Dallas, TX

hhhmmmm.....

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

I'll be there

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

Cuttings can always be put in greenhouse to winter over or we can do seed trading. I'm up for either.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Maybe we could crash the RU that the West Houston bunch is talking about? lol I think they had way too much fun in July and are planning to party again!

NE Medina Co., TX(Zone 8a)

I'm hoping I can attend. We will see later on.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Well, I don't have a greenhouse, so I'm out. See ya in the spring, I hope.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

CJ, I have a 26' HH & I expect it s/b 52' by winter. I'll baby yours for the winter.
Now, you have no reason not to come join us!
:~)

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

My plants from last year all made it in pots - or in the ground. Moved some inside. I got some white iris that went straight in the ground and they were fine. We could all try to bring the tougher plants. I think it's ok to divide daylilies in the fall, right - and I've got quite a few that need thinning. Ya gotta come, Ceejay!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Hi, Gang!!
:~)
(Trying to rack my old-heimer brain to come up with something to intyce CJ to come!)
lol

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Yea....honestly if this thing is going to be a go we need to set a date and make some plans soon, otherwise everyone will be busy with other things at that time.

Kim (right now in NY, hoping Dean doesn't strand her here!)

Meadows Place, TX(Zone 9a)

Ameila & I would make it on the 10th

Kipper

ps: sent up some thoughts for the doctor that will be cutting on me this coming Thursday, if Dean stays away. Having to have 3 to 4 lower neck vertabrae fused at 1:00 that day.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Wow - Kipper - abosolutely! I'll have you in my thoughts and prayers on Tuesday. Best wishes to you.

I'm in for the 10th! Kim - glad your parents can make it. Will this be their first Texas winter?

Smockette - maybe we ought to just go kidnap Ceejay in her jammies and she'll have no choice? Does she need the promise of butterfly and hummingbird plants that are already well rooted? (ceejay - are your ears ringing?) What can we think up that will entice her. Oh - I can drive from the Woodlands/Conroe area....

Nancy

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Yep.....their first Texas winter, which will hopefully be more normal unlike their first Texas summer!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

At least a whole lot warmer than Ohio! I love the winters here. I grew up in Oklahoma - in the sleet and ice belt of the US.
Dallas to Kansas....

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Nancy, I do know where CJ lives but isn't kidnapping a Federal offense? Now, I think there might be a little too much concrete in a Federal pen, for my liking! lol

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

nah - I think jammie knapping for gardening purposes is purely legal...

Iola, TX(Zone 8b)

Kim, the 10th works for me.. Have your bird houses ready.. still working on the wheel barrow planter.....
Trish Ann

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Trishann - I love my birdhouse! I need to move my iris to more sun. Glad you are coming!

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Should we make an official post then for a head count?

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

I think so.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

I vote. But I always vote for get togethers with DGers!!!
:~)

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Our south Texas get together has been postponed until spring and I would love to come..........I have the state convention in Kerrville for African violets the first week of November but i can pull this off i think.............would love to come ...........
gail

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Can we make it Nov 10 - seems most can come then, and Dave will be free.

Count me in!

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Ok....I will make a new post for a head count.

:) Kim
