I just love these little birds. I bought a new feeder today for them, but I also grow many daylilies and I see them feed from them on a daily basis. They do seem to like my reds and purples the best. Also the bee balm!
Does anyone have a nest? Please post a picture if you do.

Good hummingbird stories?
Great subject Teresa. I have seen no nests but would really love to. The only story I have is that I went out and got some Tutti-Frutti agastache because I understand the hummers like it. I planted it right next to my hummer feeder since I have seen no action this year at all. Then I planted some black and blue salvia close by and in between is my Texas Star Hibiscus. So one of the three times I have seen a hummer in my yard he was not feeding on the agastache that was so pretty and bought especially for him. He was not feeding on the feeder that was fixed just for him. No he was feeding on the black and blue salvia. Now I may not be brilliant but I do know that black and blue is nowhere near the color red. I didn't care. I was thrilled he liked something in my yard. Then I have been waiting all summer for my Texas Start to bloom as I had never had one before. It finally bloomed, a huge red bloom. Just beautiful. But the bloom only lasted a day and was all wilted and hanging down. So then I see my little hummer and he is actually eating out of my feeder for once. However he takes a side trip over to the red flower and he really wants some of that but alas it is already wilted and there was nothing for him so he went back to the plain ol' feeder. I have had three blooms since then but no hummers. They are fickle little things but how can you help but love them. I mean it is like you get a bonus at work when you see one in your yard.
Thanks for starting this thread. I know Becky Gardner will have a lot to say on this one. LOL. (just kidding Becky, not being mean).

I have only seen one nest and that was at a neighbors house. I have a couple of regulars that are in the yard. I bought a new feeder with a large mouth for easy cleaning, yesterday at Wal-Mart. That is a pet peeve of mine. My glass one is hard to clean even with a bottle brush.

Those feeders are hard to clean. I finally got a top filler one and it has been a dream come true. Just wish the little guys were there to use it more.
Actually I have seen a nest. It was in East Texas at my ex-husband's uncle's house. I had no idea what it was. It was in a tree, and the tree was not very big at all. It was the tiniest nest I have ever seen. Had to ask what it was. Don't know if you saw the video going around of the hummers from egg to flying off. At one point it was a really tight fit for the two babies in that little nest. Don't know what they would have done if there had been three babies.
