i was stunned when what i thought was dirt was actually millions of tiny bugs in the water???? what are they, and what do i do to get rid of them? i cleaned the pond out i mean removed all the water. its a very small in ground pond. and the little "bugs" returned. the only thing different this year from last is i bought a couple of water plants????? maybe they were in the water plants. they actually ate one of the plants. i dont know . i have had a problem with many tiny bugs..
If you are sure that they ate one of the plants you may have aphids. A good way to get rid of them is to either blast them with water from a hose or to swish the plant around in the water to dislodge them. Your fish will love eating them. If they are very tiny and seem to live in the water itself you may have have "water fleas". Despite their less than pleasant name they are actually harmless and a good food source for your fish. The fact that they are there actually tells you the water quality in your pond is good.
oh really i had no idea. we do not have any fish in our pond but i guess i wont worry if they come back then thanks alot for the response. now what is the best way to get rid of the green water? ive tried the algee removers.
