Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Yes,they are adorable. I put down leaves so I'll have more plants soon and no room unless I do like cedarnest and knock out some walls.

P

(Zone 1)

I hear ya Bigred. I bet there are bunches of us who would really like to knock down some walls to expand .... just for our plants!

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Well, here I am trying to get rid of some plants and I just finished re-potting the rest of my Optimara standards and I'm back to square one.

Here they are and the resulting pots of suckers I couldn't make myself toss in the compost bucket. Where's that sledgehammer?

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

P

(Zone 1)

:)

I have an on-going Honey Do List .... waaaay backed up at the moment! Hubby took off Summer A term and didn't teach but he didn't get much done from my list either! I'm hoping when he's off three weeks over the Christmas holidays that a couple of things get marked off the list! LOL.

It has 7-3x4 windows(could only get 6 in the pix)facing north. Ideal for av's lots of light no direct sun. I want two shelves running the full length of the windows(apx.25 ftx 2 shelves)...THEN...MAYBE..I'll have enough room for all my av's...?...NAH!...LOL

P

really should proof before I hit send

I think one of my favorite thing about that room with all its windows is that "ground level" is right at the base of the window... what a view!

Are you thinking about 2 shelves running across the windows at about the height of the 2 shelves on the stand in your first photo? You could probably put a pretty wide shelf at windowsill level, and then a narrower one higher up... probably you don't want to block that view too much, but how wonderful to have an eye-level shelf for displaying whichever plants are in full bloom!

I love that room!

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

yes,you have a front row seat on watching birds, butterflies, hummers and others, palying in the flowers. I tried putting feeds on the walls outside the windows but all the activity inside the room scared off the birds. There is a birdbath right outside the windows though but a little further out from the windows so as not to scare the birds.

I think I want the bottm shelf below the bottom of the window so I can still open the windows w/o having to move plants to get to the latches and the top shelf right at the metal part that divides the two parts of the window so the plants are above your line of veiw.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

That's a good idea... I've got some AVs on a shelf at about that height (actually a bench that runs below my family room windows, behind the couch), and the light there seems really good for them. Putting the second shelf between the upper and lower panes makes sense also, since your view is already divided there... I guess the room is taller than I think, if that's above eye level. I can't wait to see that space with more plants! :-)

(Zone 1)

Oh, I WANT a room like that! It is soooo nice Bigred! I would hang curtain rods and have hanging baskets of plants all across the rods! Oh, I envy you that huge room! I sure hope you will post pic's when you get it all set up with the shelves!

(Zone 1)

Looks like we have an August Bingo going! Come on over and join the fun!
