If I could lay my hands on only a few seeds it would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,

Wanted: Calystegia "Pink Sensation"
I don't know where to find the pink ones Elsa, but we do have lots of the white Calystegia growing around the hedgerows here. It's very pretty but considered a weed. I've never tried harvesting seeds (or even looking for seeds) from it, but if you're interested I could try.
Terri
Terri,
I would love to try the white one. Will keep it in a pot to prevent it from going all over the place.
Thanks,
Elsa
Ok, next time I see the wild ones growing anywhere I'll be hunting it for seeds. I'll let you know immediately if I find any.
They're so pretty, I don't know how they can be called 'weeds' but they are prolific and strangle everything in their close proximity very quickly. To me they almost look identical to white 'Morning Glories'. I suppose, like many other plants we regard as weeds, they might behave themselves much better in a different climate (or not :o( ).
Where I grew up as a child there used to be a much smaller kind of 'bindweed' with pink flowers and quite a delicate perfume. I haven't seen those growing in this area but if I should ever see any I will bear you in mind and look for seeds.
Terri
Thanks, Terri.
Very similar to both of those Beth, but the way I remember it was that it was either white or very pale pink but with deeper pink stripes. Thanks for posting those pictures :o)
This is taking me back years, LOL To when I was a small girl picking wild flowers.
Terri
Hi Beth,
The Convolvulus is really beautiful! The Calystegia is a double form I saw in a brochure of J.Parker. We can't import plants to SA, and our postal service is so slow, even if we could they'd be dead before reaching their destination. I was so hoping to get hold of a few seeds as I've haven't been able to track it down locally.
A double Calystegia would be nice! I've never seen that....
Now that you come to mention it Beth, I'll bet that the white 'bindweed' is probably a Convulvulus...(duuuuhhh) but they are so similar and I know next to nothing about these plants.
The one in the picture is very similar to the one I remember picking as a child, but that one was very low growing and sort of trailed along the ground. I don't remember it being prolific either, not like the white variety.
Terri
I did a google and the only doubled flowered pink flowering calystegia was on a dutch site.

Is this what you are chasing.
A.
Yes, Annette! That is the one...pretty isn't it? Looks like "Fairy Flowers" to me. If you look closely, you'll see them amongst the flowers playing hide and seek. LOL!
It sure is a pretty flower, yes I bet that this 1 will bring some fairies into the garden.
