Acanthus Flame seeds are alive???

Frisco, TX

I have 3 Acanthus Flame plants in my garden. Recently 2 have set alot of seeds. I pulled a bunch off and brought them indoors a few days ago. We'll i get a call from my 2 kids at home today saying "your seeds are alive'.. I coudlnt imagine what they were talking about.

Turns out the seed pods are splitting open and popping out the seed. My kids were scared at first of the sound and didnt knwo what was going on since they are home alone. Then they enjoyed watching them pop out of the container.

Is this common with this seedpod or any others? I cant wait to get home to see if they are still alive. :-)

By the way, I should have quite a bit of these if anyone wants some.

Yep---that's what they do. That's how the plant throws them out so the seeds might come up elsewhere instead of right below the mother plant. Have you ever heard bluebonnet seed popping? Can be loud sometimes.
