Several people posted pics of their gardens on "What's Blooming" and I thought it would be a good idea for a thread. I enjoy strolling through everyone's garden and seeing them as a whole and how they are put together in relation to color, size, and texture. It is also great to see garden structures and how they are used. Get your cameras out and start posting pics of your gardens and show everyone what you have done! Eleanor
Take us for a stroll through your garden!
Another view of above garden - monardia, coneflowers, rudbeckia, coreopsis, hostas, butterfly bush and a Lime Frost daylily in bloom. Also has peonies, Autumn Joy sedum, clematis and a hydrangea (that didn't bloom this year), a lilac on the right and forsythia on the left.

As a beginning gardener here, there is still way too much brown (open space) in all of my gardens. After being a member here and learning so much, I have PLENTY of plans for next year's garden space.
Thanks for starting this thread. We will all get some great ideas while we are admiring each others' gardens.
You can see the problem I have with planning - looks weird with the really tall flowers in the middle. Daisies were on the left in the back and filled it in a little but I have cut most of them back and am hoping for a second blooming of them. The right side needs to fill in cause I just re-did that part.
This pic is of my shade garden with hostas, astilbes, a fern, bleeding heart that I have cut back and containers for added color.
Will post some more later but I have to go get my grandson, Colin. eleanor
Well Eleanor from what I can see you do a fine job. I think your choices work very well and all the garden decor too. I particularly like your pots and critters in the shade garden. Is that a rock in front of your pots? It is wonderful. This is a tough time of year for pics, plants are getting cut back and there is a lot of yellow and pink. Not to mention the Aug. weather makes weeding and deadheading get a little backed up, at least it is around here. Look forward to more pics.
Here is entrance from the back to my garden path. Poor DH has been watching his lawn go yellow and bald. I keep telling him we just need more garden beds and less grass. ;0
ngam - your garden looks beautiful. You are right about the gardens this time of year with flowers being cut back. Can always post earlier pics if you have them also. Eleanor
threegardeners ... oh my goodness! how exquisite!!! You've shown me another fine example of what my gardens should look like in a few years.
Work, and plan, and work and plan - that will take care of the colder months for me.
Thank you!! I never really plan...I just buy plants, or scoop cuttings and wander around until i find a spot empty to put them. You really can't go wrong with flowers...look at how mother nature does it in the wild....
ThreeGs, wonderful wonderful wonderful! I can't wait until I have nice full beds like that again. I really like the coneflower, monarda and phlox combo. Just terrific. What is taller shrub in pic #1 with pink flowers?
That was a tree mallow of some kind, but it seeded itself so badly I ripped it out when it finished blooming. I put white, purple and orange cone flowers in there and some bell flowers.
Three gardeners - you have beautiful gardens. Love all of the colors and I usually end up planting the way you do - buying plants I like and then trying to find a place to put them. Everything looks great together. Eleanor
These are pics of my new garden. It is long and narrow and no way I can get the whole thing in and show the flowers in it. This garden was just started this season and has a lot of filling in to do. First pic on right side of garden. Has a clematis on a trellis, climbing rose, iris, coneflowers (other side of bridge), peony, coreopsis, herbs in the container, and a blanket flower. Eleanor
I love your bridge Grammy!! Looks like you are out in the woods from the background. I sometimes wish I could do things like that, but my yard is pancake flat.......
And finally the last pic - it's a long way across as it borders my whole backyard. This section has a garden bench, hydrangea, astilbes, hostas, bleeding heart, and creeping Jenny. I have posted pics of a garden that is not filled in so don't be afraid to post your pics if you're just starting your garden!! Eleanor
What beautiful gardens everyone! We certainly have talented gardeners here. I really enjoyed it so far! Keep em coming!
Very nice! I always enjoy seeing others gardening ideas
I love all these wonderful ideas and plant combinations. And, I am in love with that little bridge. When we finally get the back hill done to a more reasonable incline, we will be planting that, too!
So many plans - so little time (LOL)
great gardens & pictures everyone
All I have, other then veggies. It is all gone now and I don't know what is planted in there, except Dusty Miller, Marigolds, Impatienc's (sp). I "think" daylillyies and some type of daisy's?
The reason I do not know what is planted is that I planted them 4 years ago. I never kept the tags. I never took good care of them till this year and that Peter'ed out as I am lack of lugging the hose all over the place !!!!!!!!!!
Great pictures, everyone! I don't have a lot of color in my gardens because we have almost all shade. The only sun I get I have is devoted to daylilies, and those are almost finished now, so it's kind of a bummer not to have anything blooming. As far as "structures", we have a lot of rock ledge in our yard, so I've tried to landscape around that .
Here's mine when the daylilies were at their peak...our lawn is hopeless, I'm afraid.
