IS THIS A HIBISCUS FAKE???

Red Oak, TX

If you go to ebay and type in hibiscus seeds a whole bunch of beautiful hibiscus that i've never seen come up. some look too good to be true. i wanted to know if anyone has baught from him in the past and are they actually real?

It is Photoshopped, Rita.
No shadow on the leaves under the flower.
Different light intensity.
Different color saturation.
Failed Art-101.
Beware.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Even if the picture weren't photoshopped, the fancy looking hybrid cultivars won't come true from seed so it's hard to say what you'd get anyway. But this is definitely a scam--probably the same person that we were talking about in this thread a couple days ago, or if not then it's a similar scam.

I had dealt with this same dealer under the name Dahu_Bonsai, he also goes by the name Andy_FloraKingdom or something like that. Check here http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller&userid=imperialbotanics&iid=-1&de=off&items=25&page=2
Always look at the sellers id history.
He scammed me twice, the one time was a rediculous affair,
Sent rotten plumeria seeds, replaced with hollow hibiscus seed shells, sent more plumeria seeds for an unknown variety.
All I wanted is what I paid for.
He is a real con man and smooth talker.
RUN FROM THIS SCHIESTER!!
He has a long history of intimidating women privately through emails, ive read them.
He also will insist his 'Kings English' is top notch.
anyway, the flowers do kinda grab ya eh?

this guys stuff is so over the top neon photoshopped! Look at his pages and pages of hibiscus listings.

I think he should receive the Charmin Award for the eBay ad closest to the full length of a roll of toilet paper.

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

LMAO!!!! I really feel bad for the people who believe his ads and then get burned :-( Sincerely, these kind of thieves should be strung up by their thumbs...

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

most people won't report them to Ebay, I guess they feel stupid at getting burned.I report the crooks.Had one a while back on Crinum bulbs, said they sent the package if I didn't get it too bad, payed with paypel and told them, they shut her paypal down and refunded my credit. always protect your a__ __ LOL

Kell -

I'm somehwat of a Photoshop expert. I'm a graphics designer and web designer here at NASA and I have worked with Photoshop every single day since 1997. I can tell you, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that the Plumeria you referenced above is a fake. Rather, it's an image of a plain Plumeria, pulled into Photoshop and colored to be like that. I guarantee you that if you were to purchase those "seeds," you will be dissppointed. I'm going to give you an example of a Photoshopped Plumeria. I'm going to do one right now for you with my own experience .

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

Hey Kell, this is one of those virus plumeria. There was some super information from Clare a couple days ago, I think the thread was something like "has anyone had flowers like this" - anyway it's a long one that is extremely informative.

I purchased one of these virus plumerias from what I thought was a very reputable seller, not realizing that it was actually a "virus" that can harm your other plumies - I just thought the flower was really unusual and pretty (big dummy me). I really wish I had read the thread before I purchased the plant about a month ago :-( Mine is segregated now and I'll be fanatically careful if I snip it at all...

Ok, this is not the best example ever but I have to get back to work so I'm doing this FAST. But here you go. This is a plain white one originally ...

What shows me that the image in the eBay auction is a fake is the stark light deifferences between the petals and the leaves directly beneath them. If someone else has seen a Plumie similar to this, then soething like that may exist. But this image on eBay has 100% been Photoshopped.

What gets me though is why these people do it? I mean, why even bother selling pieces of seeds for $2, when if they accept PayPal, after the charges from PP and eBay, the auction wasn't even worth their time. Soooooooooooo weird and pointless to me.

The Plumie I could see - getting $45 for something that wasn't worth anything good or that would possibly harm your plants ... now I'm in the wrong business.

Hey! I think I found someone to spray paint my van!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Yep, LOL Liz, no doubt your hippie dippy van. Amanda would do it right. Then we can all go for a tour. We can be groupies for some hot band. I can't pick the band though, they would be too old to be hot.

WOW Amanda, I am so impressed. I wish you lived near me. I am trying to teach myself photohop and I am not only a poor student but a poorer teacher.

That guy is cleaning up. And it would be ages before people see what grows from their seeds. Too late for recourse I am sure. What a shame greed has them in their clutches.

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Ha ha ... well personally, I think the image is YEEAAUCH!!! But hey, I only had about 3 minutes before I had to get back on console so ... it's a quickie!

So did you want a flower power van? Lol!!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

Wonder how many requests Amanda will get for cuttings from her psychedelic plumie flower. LOL

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Ha ha ha ha!!

Plumiedelphia, PA(Zone 7a)

I just ordered 3 ;p

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

And I bet she gave you a deal too. Jeesh, you have all the luck.

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

LOL!!! You guys crack me up!!!

Plumiedelphia, PA(Zone 7a)

She also included 25 of the rarest plumeria seeds in the world!
The only known Snowbelt plumeria!
They grow high in the mountain tops of Alaska's rain forest section.
I know its true cause she said so and sent pictures!

Pollack lives!

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Malestrom - enjoy your seeds! These are truly the most incredible flowers ever and they will provide you with year-round blooms in your zone. You should also NOT overwinter them as they are hardy to your climate. Also, if you fertilize twice daily with 20-20-20, you should see some increible results within the next month.

If you would like, I've got some pieces of seed for the Zebra Cat Plumie (also know as Radioactive Plumie). This one is known to grow in Antarctica and it was descovered by scientists while they were searching for moon rocks. They were so amazed, they bagged the seeds and sent them to me only, so they are very rare and you can only buy them from me. Get them wihle the pickins are good! I can send those to you for $7 plus $45 s&h. Let me know!!

Plumiedelphia, PA(Zone 7a)

Awesome pricing!!
How many can i acquire?
Can I attach the radioactive pieces to my snowbelt pieces and obtain a new hybrid that flies, cleans and cooks too?
Put me down for 300!
Is the s&h per seed piece?
I cant miss this rare opportunity ^^

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Well, here's what I'll do for you. I don't normally like to make this sort of exception, but I'll give you the nice guy discount. For $54 per seed package, I'll give you all 300 seed pieces. And there are 3 pieces per package.

And yes, you can try attaching your radioactive plumies to your snowbelt - they make GREAT grafting plants! I even grafted this one with a Canary Island Date Palm and got incredibly beautiful results! Want a pic? Ha ha ha...

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

You are all too funny!! Michael, what a deal you're getting - I'm jealous ;-)

Ha ha the joke's on you,Yard Punks!
Those plumeria only grow under old Kelvinator refrigerators in garbage dumps, and I just happen to have the only 50 in existence.
After I smash them with a hammer, I'm going to sell 3 pieces to a baggie on eBay and become a gazillionaire...

Nah nah ... so there!!!

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Gordo, I think the ones that you are talking about are the reactor plumies, not the radioactive plumies. They are very close in color and features so I can see how you'd make the common mistake of confusing them. However, you can tell the difference in the striations on the petals ... yours shouldn't have any!!

Lol .... this is cracking me up

Ah...but Amanda Banana...do yours have the detachable jet pack and high colonic blender blades bonus pack?

I thought NOT!

*fart*

Oh excuse me!

Alvin, TX(Zone 9a)

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewww!! :)

Plumiedelphia, PA(Zone 7a)

Colonic blender blades?
I want one of those!!
Wow has this ever gone of the deep end!! 0_0

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

The words 'colonic' and 'deep end' in the same post can be detrimental to your health and cause disturbing visualization hallucinogenics.
Plus it can cause other anti social disturbances...see gordo's previous post, need I say more?!

be careful...verrryyy careful....
