I'm almost embarrassed to ask such a generic question of the experts, but my googling is getting me nowhere. I admired a neighbor's "dinnerplate" hibiscus last year and he gave me some seeds to sow last fall. They have done wonderfully so far and hopefully next year I'll have some blooms! I'd sure like to know what they're called though. They stand 4-5' tall and the blooms are probably 6-8" across. Can anybody point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance. You all have some GORGEOUS pictures. (The color on this is a bit deceiving....this is actually more of a maroon color).

Help for a Newbie?
Maybe Luna Red and Luna Blush?
Thanks so much for responding Loretta. Now I at least have a starting point. Should I be lucky enough to have seed of my own next year I'd like to know exactly what I'm sharing. :-)

They look like hardy hibiscus to me, although I don't know their names, not having any hardies myself. Lovely pics though :-)

I could swear I posted a response to this the first day I saw this, guess the computer gremlins must have been at work! Those are all Hibiscus moscheutos, which is a hardy hibiscus. I think, although I'm not positive, that they are rather slow sometimes to come back in the spring, so next year if it seems like they're not coming back, don't give up on them!
You could always label the seeds "Hibiscus moscheutos like Luna Red" and "Hibiscus moscheutos like Luna Blush".
The common everyday name is "Rose Mallow". It took me three years to find them. Now most nusureies have them. I have 9 plants. Just be patient. Their worth the wait. In plant form thy bloom the first year.
Check the plant files to see if they are Lady Baltimore (pink) and Lord Baltimore (red) You will have to compare the leaves.
To search DG Plant Files, I use Google, then select the DG PlantFile listing, it is much easier for me.
