i am getting more and more tropicals ...i guess it had to
happen when you are an addict? i lived in guam for 4 years
and we were of course loaded with tropicals.....everyday
in the afternoon the sky would cloud up and rain for about 30
minutes and then all was bright and sunny again?
can i liken care to my tropicals like my guam residency?
that tropicals can never have too much water? ....not drowning
of course....but quite a bit of water? and conversely....lots of
nutrients? (haven't gotten to that stage of my investigation
yet).... it seems like the hurrieder i go the more i get behind with
regards to the care and research of these plants.....
Generic care of tropicals? Lotsa water?
Only tropicals I fertilize regularly are my hibiscus and plumies, others if and when I remember or have leftover fertilizer. As for watering, I water when they wilt, in hot July/Aug that means every day. Tropicals planted in part sun/part shade seem to fend for themselves so they get even less attention.
Of course, this year has been easy because we've had a lot of rain.
i am still so luving the violet....it is starting to make runners.....i am going to hate losing it to the ground and winter....should i divide it again b4 i put it in the ground or do you think that that is pushing it?
not to worry. it will kinda get ratty but it will come back. Before they get the winter blahs, they should give you a nice show in the fall. you could divide it and keep a backup planting, just in case. but you won't lose it. Are you or have you been getting rains in crosbyton? that seems to promote their vigor.
Oh, I just realized you are in z7. Yes, definitely keep a backup, but I'll still bet they'll return.
we have gotten some rains here....not as much as yall....; cant wait for the show....but i hope i can divide this and keep on growing...it will be a must have from here on out....
