I am sooo excited to finally have a few babies. My question is, when do I pick them??? Here's a photo of the biggest one.
Is it soup yet???
Corn question
That ear looks ready, but feel is the last test. Usually when the silks turn brown, it is ready, but there is some variance among cultivars. You can feel if the ear has filled, if still in doubt, gently ovep the husk at the tip end and look.
I try the feel approach, but these novice paws haven't developed a sense of feel! Oh, boy! Guess I'll just go out and disrobe one! I cannot tell you how excited I am.
It's been a great year for new experiences! I grew my first ever onions and shallots, and my first ever potatoes. The potato plants never flowered, so I thought I was sol. Imagine my surprise when I went digging around and discovered SPUDS!!! I'm making a warm potato salad tonight, with (hopefully) corn-on-the-cob, sliced cukes, and BLT's!
Yowska! This old gal is verrrry pleased!
Thanks for walking me through all of this. You've been a Godsend!
Sequee, that is just great. Now next year, you will have the experience, and can advise over on the Newbie Gardners Forum. Love that fresh corn. Just cooked some the southern way, fried. Yum, for tomorrow's meals.
It was super. Tonight I will try a Trinity!
