Anyone know how to measure oxgen levels in the pond?

Since there seem to be tests kits for just about everything else is there any way to test the oxygen level in a pond? If so, what is a safe level?

Tarpon Springs, FL(Zone 9b)

Yes, there are test kits for dissolved oxygen. My kit requires that I first take a temperature reading of the water. Then I fill a vial to the top with water (no air bubbles allowed) and dissolve a tablet in it. Then the resulting water color is compared to a chart that comes with the test kit. Kits that don't cost a fortune aren't as accurate as expensive tests, but they will give you a good idea whether the water quality will support fish and other wildlife. Your test kit should tell you what that level is - or you can search the Internet for "dissolved oxygen" and "water quality". You need good oxygen levels for wildlife. Decomposing plants and other factors will reduce the oxygen content. Providing aeration will improve oxygen, as well as planting plants in the water (they give off oxygen during photosynthesis).

I knew they made tests kits for other things, but did not know about the test kit for oxygen levels. Thanks!
