Butterfly ginger

Burleson, TX(Zone 8a)

I received one of these last year (or maybe before) from Josephine. It's in a location that gets morning sun and iIt's been growing and spreading but it's never bloomed. I'm moving it because the ferns are taking over but not sure where it would be happiest. Ideas?

Page, the gingers will take some shade but not too much, mine are starting to bloom now and the scent is amazing. Yours may bloom yet this year, then you can move them to a little sunnier place.

Hi Paige! Hope your family is well and would like to see you on the bf forum ☺

I agree with Josephine, my BGs bloom best with almost full sun. I have some in the shade and have been moving them because they just aren't blooming.

Thanks Josephine! I've got plenty of full sun! I thought they needed shade so I crammed them into the only spot I had. I'll quickly get them some sun and maybe they'll finally bloom.

Hi Roxanne! We're great but summer with kids is keeping me busy! I have been enjoying my butterflies and miss being able to tell someone about them! I've had Bordered Patches, BST's, and just found 4 Queen's last week. I haven't had any Monarchs since early spring but had 2 this week so I'm expecting them soon. They better hurry because the aphids and a bunny are loving my milkweed! lol Hope things are blooming well for you too! :)
