Hi everybody.
Does it matter if the leaves used to make the tincture come from a male of female tree? I'd prefer to grow male kinkgos on my property because the fruit of the female smells so badly.

I'm not sure on this one, Jabanerojefe, I've always used the leaves from our local park's ginko trees, without checking the sex of the trees themselves....
I hear that the nut of the female ginko fruit, is actually edible, after you remove the smelly fruit from it..
Probably won't be trying this one:)
thank you cyra.
I planted one in the corner of my garden a couple of weeks ago and am rolling the dice on its sex. (funny what we talk about!)
I'm betting it doesn't matter. I'll know for sure Thursday. I'll post what I learned.

Thanks, Jeff, I'm interested in this one too. Also, there's another diocious (sp.!) tree I'd like to try without buying 10 trees, just to assure myself of male and female trees...
I'm referring to the Sea Buckthorn, a somewhat spiny shrub/tree. Horizon Herb has seed for it, and possibly the plants as well, but my space here is limited. Wish I knew how to sex trees!
