I think I have the right group. The group that gets cut right down every spring. Anyhow after my Jackmanni for example is finished blooming I don't cut it down again this season do I? My growing season isn't that long but it should bloom again right? I think that is what it did last year but now I can't remember...ugh! TIA.
Group 3 pruning question
Dawn..you can prune and fertilize and hopefully get another bloom period..that works for me in my long growing season..don't know how it will in yours...couldn't hurt...Jeanne
Dawn:
I didn't prune my clematis after the first blooms, but let it go. It is now giving me even more blooms that the first session back in May. This is the first year for me with it. The guide that came with the plant said to prune it back in the early spring to about 18". It, too, is a Group 3.
