Blue heeler or great dane?

We got this pup (the one in front) out of the shelter the day before he was due to be gassed. The shelter said he was a blue heeler mix, but others that have seen him say he is a great dane mix. He is about 3 months old and still has his baby teeth. I think he will be big. Any dane owners care to comment? Does he look at all like a dane puppy?
