Has anyone grown poppies from "white" seed? It is called white but is actually a pale, wheat color. I obtained a quantity of them and haven't tried growing them yet. What kind of flower does it produce?
Thanks, Arne
white poppy seed
No idea, but it sounds intriguing!
Hi Arne! Welcome to Dave's. I've grown a white seeded poppy called 'Elka'. The flowers were single petaled and clear white. A simple but pretty flower.
Poppy seeds were an important food and oil crop in Slovakia before walnuts were widely available. The white seeds have a sweeter, and more nut-like taste. It's also said to have a higher oil content.
i've used them in a curry before, they are very nice with fried potatoes and cauliflower. they are the white kind, i wonder if i should try and get any to germinate??
