Watering

I was wondering how often we should be watering our plumies in this extensive heat wave we have been having in my area.

And, should we allow the plant to dry out, at least to the touch, before watering?

You can water every day as long as you do not overwater. If your potting mix drains well you probably do not have to worry about overwatering. The leaves and flowers will begin to droop when the plant needs water.

Mature plants have a higher tolerance for too much water. On young plants overwatering hinders the smaller finer roots from developing and reduces the plants rate of growth. Too much water can also cause the buds to drop.
