We're going to buy a sump pump and hose today, to pump out the rest of the water from "my" swamp.
Will probably also buy 20" pots to protect babies till swamp and ground are completely dry and mosquitos will let me near plants.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gosh Robert, your pictures are all pretty, but that Floral Fantasy and Yuletide sure do catch my eye. Bon Temps would be right in there fighting for a spot in my yard too.

Hey Cat,
I know what you mean. It was beautiful when I got up this morning and started watering. Now it looks like dusk, all of my dusk to dawn lights have kicked on and it looks bad. The wind has picked up, and they say 30% chance of rain. Well this 30% must be over my place now, I am looking for the 70% sun. I guess it moved on. This weather is just crazy. A few of the hibbies love it but most of them like a roof over them when it gets like this.....

Hey Cat,

If you have a Harbor Freight around you, check there for your pump. I get alot of my supplies from them. Great Place and Great Prices too!!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

We are going to be in contact next spring, Robert. I think I have to have some of these. Is there such a thing as a hibiscus that likes shade or dappled shade? I would love to have some of them on my deck under the maple tree.

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

Great pics, Robert! Whirligig is pretty, but I really like Yuletide and Creole Darlin'. My Creole has little buds, so I sure hope that the blooms on mine turn out as beautiful.

Does Yuletide have some Dragon (breath, black, etc.) in its parentage? Your up-close is terrific, but with that throat shot, it sure reminds me of the dragons...

Beautiful selection!

It's much cooler (but very humid) here today, thank goodness!

Today, I've got a new Mango Tango - the more this one blooms, the more I like it :-)

Voodoo Queen has another set of twins - I've got to say it again, but WHAT a terrific plant this one is!

Black Dragon is stunning with a new bloom today.

Cinnamon Girl is another terrific plant, always full of new blooms (even if I did chop off her bottom this morning).

Rosalind is blooming again today. Hmmm, it's looking like a lot of orange for me today, huh?

It is apparently twins day at my house, with two blooms (only one showing though) from the always prolific Cajun Blue.

The Color Purple is still not quite awake, and wins the sleepyhead of the day award!

Voodoo Magic is also apparently enjoying the not-as-hot weather today by not opening all the way up yet. I've noticed that this one is often a late sleeper with blooms peaking in the late afternoon.

And last but not least is the always show-stopping Magnifique.

Have a beautiful day :-)

Hey Karen,

Beautiful PICS. My Voodoo Magic is the same way. SLOW MOTION!!! When I went to dupont I tried to get a couple for stock but they would not let any of them go. Maybe October. I can't seem to find the parent plants on yuletide but I definitely see the similarity. You truly have a beautiful collection. Looks like you had a great day at HVH.

Creole Mustard is great!

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Creole Mustard and Mango Tango :)
I decided not to get the sump pump. Gonna go the right route and have drains put in, from both back corners of the yard, cuz.....if the electric goes out, so does the sump pump.

Robert,
We only have Ace Hardware, Home Depot and Lowes.

Got lots of mosquito poison, which won't hurt the hibs. But when I pulled some of them out of the ground today, the dirt smelled horrible!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Great pictures. My want list just keeps growing. LOL!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 9a)

I love Cinnamon Girl !

San Bernardino, CA(Zone 8b)

You know what, Ardesia- Cinnamon is a super great plant. Not only do I have new blooms almost everyday, but this is the only hibiscus that was undamaged (besides some leaf loss) and kept blooming throughout our weird winter freeze. I can't recommend this cultivar highly enough. I know Cindy from HVH also told me that they've added it to their "tried and true" for sale page because of its great reliability.

Pizonne - BEAUTIFUL Yuletide throat!!

amarantha00 - I LOVE your Mango Tango!! How large is that flower? And great Magnifique!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Gosh, I am out and about for a couple of days you guys post some beauties. I want them all. I really do.

I have been busy all week going to Berkeley Botanical to see their Titan (Amorphophallus titanum) blooming and to the San Francisco Arboretum as well as the ever exciting Conservatory of Flowers and tons of nurseries with friends. Oh and a clivia luncheon.........
No fancy hibiscus to be seen anywhere except for 2 at the Conservatory of Flowers in SF the other day.

Early today I was in ecstasy over some odd Arboretum impatiens I took pictures of and also I have some seeds. What was I thinking? I so need more of these hibiscus. LOL

I do not think they compare. LOL
