some faces!!!!! I thought it would be fun to bump this old thread up again. I missed it the first go round and i'm sure there are quite a few new members who didnt get in on it either.
For the most part all of us only know one another as just some words on a screen. I have no idea just how many of us here within this forum have actually met in person but i'm sure some of us have. I havent met anyone in person yet!!!
I thought it would be nice to revisit this old thread and let the new people see what some of the older members look like and at the same time give some of us newer ones a chance to add a pic of ourselves.
This is not a recent pic of me. It was taken about 4 years ago at Ritter park in Huntington,WV. Notice how frozen solid the fountain in the park is behind me,so you know i'm about to freeze to death!!!

I want to see-
Brenda...how can you have grandkids...you don't look old enough to drive!!!
Sara...do something about that childs' eyes, would you?
Gee...such great photos!! Mulletman, I thought you were much older! Everyone (so far...heheh) looks so GREAT. Healthy and young and vibrant!!
I think I'll pass (just kidding...I just hired a professional photographer to follow me around for 3 weeks and I will choose the best shot!!).
I'm kind of new here. I joined last year and have collected a few new hoya's. Mainly from Kim in Bryan, Texas. She was kind enough to trade me hoya's for other plants I had since I had so few hoya's. Great person if y'all get the chance to trade with her.
The picture I'm sending was taken a little over a month ago at a Plumeria sale in Clearlake Texas. We were with very dear friends that we only see about once a year at the sale. Allen and I are in the middle.

Awwww, everyone here is just beautiful (and their mates/friends too)! It is really nice to see all those smiling faces - I'm glad you started this dmichael.
Mulletman ... where's the mullet! I must say you clean-up nice.
Mark, have you added new ink since the last pictures you posted?
Sara, your daughter is talented! I could never keep my eyes crossed long enough for someone to focus the camera and take the picture.
Here's me and my closest & dearest friends at graduation. I'm the chick in the upper right with the blue hat.
:-)

Yay! I love these threads! It's so fun putting faces to the names. I'm still pretty new here, but I'll put my face up there anyway. This is me in front of some casino in Vegas in February...it's the best most recent one I could find. :-/. Going back there in September. Not sure how we're paying for it all, still paying for the last trip! Time to cut up credit cards maybe? LOL.
Grr, my head is cut off in the thumbnail!

We are neighbors--so if you want to meet some DGers give a yell.
I guess I qualify as a member of this forum since I got all of my hoyas from the co-op to root and miraculously 2 to bloom.
Carol
Love your humor.I did think that maybe that was a pic of your after a really strict diet.
As far as a picture,I'm not usually in the picture (I make sure of that) but here is one with 2 friends in San Diego a year ago.I'm in the middle.
Nancy
Wow!
First let me say...everyone looks WONDERFUL!!!
Second, I am SO happy to see so many males into plants/gardening!!! I LOVE that!
Third, I can't believe how young some of you are to have an interest in plants :) That is Awesome! I sure wish I had developed an interest sooner :)
I don't "do" pictures but this is me:
I just turned 40 and have been wroking with plants since I was able to fill a pot with dirt!!! My grandmother encouraged it as I was a child growing up and it has stuck with me and I love it. It's great therapy after a hard days work!!
amen!
I was never brought up around plants. Everything I have learned has been self directed research and because of everyone here at Dave's. I'm trying so hard to encourage my daughter (13) but she has absolutely NO interest what so ever :(
Hi Everybody!
I am new to the forum. I haven't posted anything until now. I started collecting hoyas in February and have around 40 now! And I just bought 20 starters from dmichael on ebay. Talk about an addict! - But, I love it.
I started because my mother had given me one 20 years ago - a carnosa, I guess, but it was beautiful. I love this forum. I enjoy reading, seeing the pictures, and learning about hoyas!
- so - I thought I would jump in now with a picture of me, my husband, Herb, our kids, Maddie and Rita, and a few of my hoyas.
Thanks for being there!
Luv,
Katie - I live in Long Beach, Mississippi
Katie, it is so nice to meet you!!!
What a perfect place for you to introduce yourself.
I love this forum too. The people here are generous with their information, as well as their hoyas.
Your photo is fabulous, thanks for sharing it.
Ann
I've always been fascinated with plants and animals. My 13 year old grandson seems to be developing an interest, and my 3 year old granddaughter. The rest of the kids think their ok, but no big deal.
Jackie
OH...Downscale...that was probably not-so-strict diet # 5555. Actually...working 12 acres has taken a slice off the oold middle!!! We are talking 67 now. Whatever is left is there to stay, I fear!!! YOU look terrific!!!
Everyone looks so alive and vibrant...no matter the amt. of vibrancy they carry!!! It is the life in the years, not the years in the life!!! With love to you all...
Carol
I was never into plants growing up. My mother had so many plants (and was a big jade lover, but I never *knew* that until I recently noticed all the jades in her house, now that I KNOW what they are!). Anyway, watering plants seemed like such a chore, and whenever she would ask me to water her garden I would whine. Since then, any plants I have gotten as a gift were on death row....I just never cared to water them.
It wasn't until I bought my first place that I bought my first plants....and whad'ya know, they were both Hoya carnosa KQ...from a grocery store. Before I moved to my place, I lived in a tiny basement with NO light, so I couldn't keep any plants (nor did I want any). I figured that I HAD to buy plants for my new place since it had wall to wall windows. Anyway, it wasn't really until I decided to save my friend's [close-to-death] HUGE jade that I realized I really did have a green thumb. Then I realized how much I really liked those hoyas I bought (it was really by chance...I went into the grocery store looking for any type of vining plant, and happened to find those), and tried to figure out what they were! I finally found out they were hoyas (and that there were MANY more types of hoya) after doing some internet research, and that was IT. I was hooked.
This was 3 years ago, when I was 28. I hope to keep this plant hobby for a long, long time.
Gabi
I am mostly a lurker as I just got started with Hoyas this Spring. Have learned a lot from this forum and got several cuttings from members. Thanks!
I have gardened all my life-always been interested. I pulled up a seedling and my Dad let me plant it when I was 3. That tree is still growing! One Grandpa was a farmer and I spent my summers with him and Grandma until I was 12. Both Grandmas had lots of houseplants. Even when I had to live in cramped apts. with only a balcony, I always have had houseplants and a tomato vine in a pot in summer!
KIM...can I send it to my son - ? 38...but lives way far away!!! Ever thought of living in Washington State????
Carol and Kim, wouldn't that just be too much fun? The cute son would just be a bonus, HA! Besides, what is far in this day and age, with internet and air travel, distance is all relative?
:)
S
Lol you guys!!! Washington state sounds a bit chilly to me....but it is pretty. I went there once to visit a friend of mine when she lived there. She was on the coast and it was very nice.
Kim
38 and Washington State? Sounds good to me! Does he make enough for me to be able to fly home to visit my family 5 or 6 times a year, plus holidays?
Does he like cats and birds and goats? (the goats would be outdoor pets of course) and most important, will I be able to get highly discounted Aloha hoyas since you will eventually be my mother in law?
Hey, if discounted Aloha Hoyas are at stake, I do have a beautiful, single, almost-29 year old daughter.......hmmmm, wonder if she'd be upset to see this post....LOL!
Karen
