I have to overwinter one in the house.
Any ideas, suggestions, tips?
Is it possible?
Thanks in advance,

Pride of Barbados...Houseplant?
Yes, I think it is, esp if you can give it some sun, but don't be surprised if it drops a lot of its leaves-mine did (I have two different kinds and they both behaved the same way) and I had mine in a grhouse. As soon as spring came though, and I was able to put them outside and one in the ground, they both took off.
Thank you, I have it in a hanging pot for now...such a slow grower....this year anyways.I can hang it in a sunny window and just treat it like my other houseplants then, right?
Are we talking about a caesalpinia? lol Just making sure because I have never seen one in a hanging pot-I think they are more upright bushes. They like full sun and some water-enough not to lose leaves from drought stress, and fert during the warm months when they are actively growing.
Here is my caesalpinia gilliesii. It started to bloom after I put it in the ground this spring. My pulcherrima(which is what you have) is in a 3 gallon pot and is about 4'
That's it, in your picture...I know it gets huge, but things grow so slow up here I put it in a 12 inch hanging pot cause I knew I'd have to bring it in. I planted the seed this spring and he's still only 3 inches tall...lol
Are you sure this isn't yours instead? http://davesgarden.com/pf/go/2247/ This is the one that goes by the common name Pride of Barbados and it's a little more commonly available than C. gilliesii.
ok...that's it ..they look so much alike..lol....so, does it get the same care? Thank you!!
lol thats it! no-thats it! ok, well maybe thats it! lol that was funny. Yes, they would get the same care-just keep it in as much sun right now as possible until it gets too cold, then bring it in. 3" is really small-but if you can get it a bit bigger for the winter, it will help, and then next summer, you should see some real growth.
*blush* it was kinda funny wasn't it? lol
I'll bring it in when it starts to cool down, keep it in lots of sun, maybe even grow lights? I remember they like to be on the dry side. Fertilize maybe?
