Bonsai wire

Cincinnati, OH

Just replaced my wife's garbage disposal. I never realized how much bonsai wire is inside a motor.

It's work-hardened & not too practical for bonsai. Copper wire for bonsai is annealed, which aligns the molecular structure, making it soft until it's bent - which causes the work-hardening.

Oops. I looked up copper to find the melting temperature was 1984 degrees fahrenheit (1083 centigrados Celsius). Tin, silver, gold, etc. have a lower melt temperature and can be annealed in your kitchen oven (when your spouse isn't home). Copper would need about 1500 degrees to soften it, then the coating would be burned off.
