I have a 400 ft pool, house that I would like to grow some plants in ,but not sure what type of lighting I will need? I only have one small window and I will not have any heat. I live right on the line of zone 8 and 8b.I am not sure what I can grow ? I love growing Brugs and Tropical Hybiscus and Hydrangea's among a million others things...lol "Would love any advice"
thank you
linda
Help transform my pool house to a green house.
Linda, some pictures would help a lot...can you post some?
Linda, you will have a real problem with light in there...but you know that already!
Without light, you could use it for things that go dormant...around here that would be maybe figs, plumerias, bulbs, stuff like that. I overwinter tender ferns in a partially heated garage with little light and they do very well.
Regarding lights, fluorescents need to be fairly close to the plant to work well. Instead, consider metal halide. Better yet, skylights.
install some solar tubes in the ceiling.
Gotta check out the solar tubes ? I wish that I was the one who built this pool shed,it would have a million windows...lol
you'll be amazed at how much light filters into the room with those solar tubes. one neat thing about them is that you can install a light in them and the tube bounce the light around and pour it out into the room.
Perhaps it might be more effective to take off the roof and put in poly?
LOL
other words you are saying that this litte house sucks for a green house...lol oh well it was a nice dream, but short lived.Gotta come up with plan B
You could find a way to seal off the front porch with poly panels and make that part a greenhouse
now that's a sweat idea!
Hey Now were making way. Now to spring this idea on the hubbie...humm
