Have you ever seen...............

North Saanich, Canada

a water lily blooming underwater??? This one has been open for two days completely submerged. I've never seen that before.
And I have tons more blooms coming and leaving on holidays tomorrow!!!! I guess the neighbour will have to enjoy them.
Hope everyone is having a great summer!

I've seen it Glenda if you've just topped your pond with water). The leaves tend to reach for the surface much quicker than the flowers....while they are a water plant the leaves can't stand having water sit on top of them.

Lovely picture and flower. :)

HI Pam. Well, I haven't added any water lately as we finally got the leak fixed, so I guess it's just an anomaly. I have seen the leaves come to the top very quickly in other years when I have topped it up. I did repot quite a few of my water lilies this year, and am so pleased I did because the pads are so much bigger, and the amount of flowers is amazing. I have some that I didnt' do, so will defintely be doing those next spring!!!
Are you still sweltering out there??

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I kinda figured you hadn't added water but.......I'd say it is a bit confused. ;)

Last night dropped down to 72 F so our house feels like it had A/C. :^)))) I got up at 6:00 am and shut all the doors and windows (DH is really ticked off at me since I disturbed the best sleep he's had in a month). :S Today we are supposed to hit 98 F but Wednesday the high is only supposed to reach mid 70's :)))))))))))))). Then it is supposed to go really high again.

I think you'll probably be better off with your hail insurance payout then what your crop might have yielded.

North Saanich, Canada

Yes, I think you're right about the hail insurance!!
Hopefully your weather cools down a bit. Glad you had a cooler night last night! We are hitting Lloydminster this week, possibly Eston later. I know my sister-in-law says the crops are burning up in Lloyd.
DH and I are not used to that heat anymore!!! I might be sitting in front of a fan the whole time I'm there!!!

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Hey Glenda you passing thru Calgary or are you going the north route?

North Saanich, Canada

Sorry Carol, will be heading the northern route - Kamloops, Edmonton, Lloydminster. IF we go to Eston, it's south of Lloyd.
But if I am in Calgary, I will let you know!!!!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I'm thinking you should buy a portable A/C for this trip Glenda (it's really going to be a shock to your now Victoria adapted system ;). Be sure to bring a reinforced umbrella too (hail and severe weather warnings are showing up a lot on the route you are taking).

Oh great-and we're driving a convertible!!!!
Well, such is life!! We're off.
