Good morning everybody. It's nice and cool here today. It finally cooled off yesterday after 5 weeks of hot weather. There are supposed to be thunderstorms this weekend, so I hope we are the lucky ones that get a shower. Things are really dry here. I went into the second back yard where I have my berries (rasp, straw, goose, etc.) and the forsythias were really wilted. I gave them a shot of water and they perked right up. I had to cut volunteer tree saplings and spray them with a little round-up. I hate to use that stuff, but it's the only way that I can get rid of them. My back doesn't take kindly to trying to dig out trees.
DH is going to move an old shed into that yard so I can have a storage/potting shed. It will be nice to have my stuff all in one spot instead of spread out between two grainaries. Maybe there will be enough room to take all my tools out of the old corn crib too. Hope so.
Went fishing last weekend and roasted in the heat. Caught about 65 catfish between the 8 of us. Yummy. THe air conditioner conked out on the way home so the last 100 miles was torture. We were sprinkling each other with water to stay cool. Pulled into one gas station on the way and the electronic thermometer up on a sign said 111 degrees. The asphalt there was melting. THere were a lot of bikers there going to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and at every stop, there was a biker chick in the bathroom with her head in the sink dousing her head with water. I really felt sorry for them, it must have been like riding in a blast furnace.
Had two new calves last week. Hopefully they are the last.
Well, gotta get to the garden and see what's there. Keep cool everyone.
