My New Coleus Color Hybrid. Hot Pink Anyone??? Love to trade

Lugoff, SC(Zone 9a)

I purchased a Coleus Plant from a local nursery, Cultivar: The Flume. It was mostly purple. After a year of rooting and growing cuttings from this plant I have a beautiful bumper crop of Hot Pink bushy Solenostemon, Coleus. I would love to start trading these. I really want a, Alternanthera, Party Time but would like to see if anyone has a Coleus Plant that I do not have. I have hundreds. :) Let me hear from you.

Very pretty maybe next week I can post and let you see what I have. You are in a great area for plants.

So it is true the one with the most Coleus wins.LOL

Do you have as many as Sugarweed?

I just looked up Sugarweed. WOW! I do think we may have a good competion going here. I am new on this site and have never taken the time to count my Coleus. It would honestly take too long.I have not seen a Coleus that I do not have and I have many that are yet un-named. My front yard is a show stopper. People stop when they see me outside and ask how, where, when....... I don't let them see the backyard. HA!!!

Well maybe I need to come take a look in October when I go to Mom's .LOL

Have you posted on the Coleus forum. You are gonna love this site and we have plenty of enablers here.

Pez may go into shock on the coleus forum. Every forum I go to has that one person who really went over the top for the last 20-30 years and has a huge varity of whatever plant. It's interesting but a little overwhelming at first.

I love hearing from you folks. LavinaMae, let me know when your coming down to my neck of the woods. I'll E-Mail you directions to my house.
CoreHHl, I am already overwhelmed. HA! As soon as I get a chance, I will be taking photo's of some of my off the wall hybrids to see who can identifiy them. As of yet I have not found a match. This is going to be fun. I hope the experts on this site will all pitch in and help.

Pez, I couldn't help noticing the zone that you have under your name-zone 10a. Are you sure that is right? I looked up where your town is, and then looked at the zone map for SC and I think that your zone is 8b, which would make more sense as the only zone 10's on the east coast are down by Miami and the keys. I would hate for you to lose some plants in the winter thinking that they could stay outside

Pez I collect Pez dispensers also. Do you as I see you are a Pez lover.
I will be in your direction October the5th or 6th then comming back October the 12th.

As far as zone 10a I'm as far east and south as you can get in SC and I'm a zone 9a at best.

I agree with the zone conversation. I looked it up on one of Dave's recommended sites and it said 10a. I didn't think it was right either. We have had a few freezes down here in the past. I brought all the fragile plants indoors and covered the rest. I'll look for another zone map and change it if it's wrong. Thanks for confirming my suspisions. :)

LavinaMae, bring something to trade with. I doubt you will want to leave empty handed. HA!!!

Sounds good as I will post pictures in a week or so as I have ordered a new computer and its supposed to be delivered this comming week. Kodak easy share took over my pictures and my adobe files and now I can't seem to get the stuff to work right,
Do you collect Pez dispensers?

Pez: I wanna see a picture of that show-stopping front yard! You have to show us. :)

Lets see if I can get some of these pics up. I can't get the whole yard in the frame so I'll try to put up a couple of shots. Looks like I'll have to enter each one seperately.

The pics are a couple months back and the plant thing is totally out of hand now. The fella who mows my lawn is starting to complain. HA!

Those flowers are beautiful, I have all my coleus in pots also, now I don't feel so bad.
I bet it is really beautiful now.
Its not long till October and I'll see you then.

Pez: Wow! Love your front porch! That's neat the way you clusterd the pots under the tree. That's a nice way to fill in without trying to get thiings to grow among tree roots.
You've obviously put in alot of work!

Thanks Ladies. I hope I don't loose any of my babies in this God awful heat wave. I have to water 2 times a day to keep them all from wilting. Even the ones in the ground. You should see my water bill. :(
