Looking to add beauty to the Garden? I recomend Jackson and Perkins' "Our Lady Guadalupe". This is my third year with this rose and she never fails to deliver. Beautiful, plentiful and fragrant, everything I like in a rose. I can not move her for the rest of the summer because the roots have gone through the pot and into the ground. Tough ol gal. I use gardenville Rose Soil and can highly recomend that mix for Roses.
Fellow Texans if your looking for a Rose
How is the disease resistance? Most of my roses get black spot except the knockouts.
Pam
of all my roses this is the most trouble free when it comes to rust leaf, black spot and the like. I have a lot of trouble with that but very seldom on this particular Rose.

Jester, your rose is amazing! Our lady of G is my favorite rose because of the color. It's hard to photograph their clear pink and dark pink reverse. In true floribunda fashion it is a non stop blooming machine. That being said tho, it is listed as "average disease resistance and is susceptible to blackspot". I have three OL of G and all were completely defoliated from BS this year. With the heat they are putting on new leaves and it never stop them from blooming.
You've done a wonderful job with yours, Jester. Others may need to be prepared to baby this rose a little, it's worth it!
Hmmmm, I wonder why mine has been so problem free. I apply the anti bug and fungus stuff a few times each spring to summer. I have blooms well into the late fall and even come Christmas time if the weather hasn't been too bad. Maybe I have her in a spot she likes, lol. I do have a problem with rustleaf on several roses this year but not this one. Also my Peace and Double Delight are having a great year for blooms. Never had any real luck with Princess Dianan though. Pity she looks so good in the catalog.

I wonder is yours is resistant to blackspot by being in a pot? Perhaps better drainage as well as no exposure to soilborne diseases... just a thought.
BTW~ beautiful blooms too...

Very beautiful that OU of G. Particularly impressed that it's potgrown. Potted roses are a challenge to me. Your routine fungus treatment is likely the reason for your success.
although I love this rose, i still want a pest free fence line of pink Simplicity Roses from Jackson and Perkins................my aunt down the road had them for decades and never once amended the soil, fed them ..........................just trimmed them every year............although she and my uncle have passed away, the kids have kept up the yard and the roses just bloom faithfully...................
I will..............her house is just down the road and the simplicity pink smells like a hybrid tea.........the red and white ones have no fragrance at all.................I may find an old one from this year................
just spent 10 minutes trying to find the pics i took at Aunt Jo's house................will go get more pics this week...........sorry
I drool over Our Lady everytime I look through a J & P catalog. Your is really beautiful :)
A rose bush in a pot! How cool is that! Does it come in other colors?
I have always planted any rose in a big clay pot.............they are much easier to care for them this way....................hybrid teas grow beautifully in clay pots...............epsom salt, decomposed gin trash, alfalfa pellets and fertilizer in a pot at least 23" across in diameter.......the above ingredients can be added each week............and be sure to use a good rose mix of potting soil................I got mine from the Houston Rose Society sold at local fertilizer store.
not this particular rose but I have several different colors in pots as well. Its not that difficult. Pots give you control over soil and watering to an extreme degree. Makes for good, happy plants.

I just love roses of any kind that have a fragrance............thanks for telling us about this one...................
I always like the climbing Roses, especially Golden Showers. I bought it twice, the first one died on me, the second one turned out to be pink. My brother bought me a Iceberg from Minnesota and I lost it. It was all my fault, it was about ten or more years ago and didnt know what I was doing. Then I bought Lady Banks, it didnt do a thing for three or four years ... then all of a sudden it was everywhere. That Rose bush tore the fence down ... but it was a beauty!
verry nice
Love the climbers
