Posted this in the indigenous plants forum, but wondering if anyone in my area can positively ID it.....? Found this vine today climbing up my porch, and was thrilled to see the typical "passion" type flowers. From perusing PlantFIles, it looks like Passiflora lutea, but not sure. Wondering if its wild, as it seems unlikely it was planted at that spot. Its probably been there awhile, as I've pulling up wild grapevine at that location and probably just kept pulling it up, too.
Is this Passiflora lutea (native yellow passion flower)?
Yes, that looks like Passiflora lutea. There are only two Passiflora native to our area, P. lutea and P. incarnata, and they're easy to tell apart.
Now don't you feel bad for pulling up those 'weeds'! LOL! Very pretty!

Thanks Tom, and yes, tggfisk, I do! Its actually in a great spot, however it got there, and I can just let it grow all around some porch railing. So there you go, a beautiful "weed" growing exactly where I would have planted it, if I had thought to plant it. Coincidentally, I have P. incarnata in another part of the yard and, yes, I bought it and planted it there. Go figure....
