Here is a picture of a Red Dipladenia that I got last week for half price and potted it in hanging basket. So far it is doing well .

2 vernes,

Yes and I almost bought two---Dipladenias are expensive to start with. I grew a Red Mandevilla vine in the ground this past spring and it started looking really sick and dropping leaves. It was covered with whiteflies and I sprayed it but the leaves kept dropping so I finally tossed it. I decided to get the Red Dipladenia, which is in the same family as the Mandevilla---to cheer myself up after the loss of a very expensive Mandy.

Yes, we should cheer ourselves up whenever possible. My son used to live in Louisville and he was telling me about the "Thunder over Louisville" on the fourth of July. Then I saw a bit on tv about it and it looks fantastic. Have you been to see it? Looked and sounded like the show of a lifetime. SheVerne

2Vernes,

No the crowds are just too big for me to fight. But it is a spectacular show. It is not on July 4th. It is one of the events for Derby Festival Week and it was April 21st this year. There were about 500,000 people that attended. I just enjoy it on tv.

Hi Ladies! Love that basket, Betty, so vivid! Great buy! Hope your having a great weekend.

Betty, I asked my son when we were in Denver if he saw the 4th of July fireworks display and he said no, that he'd seen Thunder over Louisville and nothing compared. So I took it for granted that it was on the 4th, also.

Hi Aunt B,

Thanks, Hope to see you the next time you are in Louisville!!!! Lost one of my huge Zowie Zinnas Friday night during the storm. Had not gotten around to staking it. So I picked 10 flowers from it and gave it to a friend's Mom who turns 100 years old today!!! She had been living alone until just a few months ago, and is not in a Nursing Home. I will post a picture of the one that I lost.

Oh! It's a beautiful plant, no mildew or spots, so sorry you lost it. Hope everything else weathered. How nice for the Centurian! Happy B-day to her! It's been raining off and on since yesterday morning... I did manage to get some things done outside in spite of it. Here's one I grew last year, I liked how it went from pink to red... nothing special, it was in a mix..

Hi Bonnie,

That is a very pretty zinna. I just love zinnas. And I see no mildew on yours. I pulled one up yesterday , Oklahoma Cherry that was covered in mildew. My other zinnas so far--no mildew.
